Mercenary Contracts - worth the gold?

New'ish to PvP and am in a guild that is geared towards PvP. Looking for things to donate to the guild bank besides gold and I saw these mercenary contracts for around 20K each - has anybody used these and are they worth the gold?

Also, another newbie question that I'm pretty sure I know the answer to - the ballistas and whatnot in the guild store say they are Pact Ballistas or Covenant Ballistas (or whatever). Is it a correct assumption that I can't use a Covenant Ballista if I'm in EP?

They no longer can be aquired in game, what people have on them is all thats left. THey would occaisionally bug out making them untargetable, which is why they became removed along with an overrealiance on using them to hold breaches etc. Mostly now its just for the novelty.
If you have or can find a Pact mage merc contract I am looking to buy one.

And yes you can only use pact seige items on your pact characters, your covenant items on your covenant characters etc

only those that were "saved for a rainy day" are avaliable.

mercs were removed from the game quite some time ago. 3/4 of the time they were untargetable, and many players overrelied on them.

The mercs were pretty useful in small pop campaigns when you were the only one defending a keep, that is until ZOS accidentally made them unable to be targeted and were removed. I am not sure they are worth the gold, or if they'd even work anymore.

I have to say I do wish they would come back, obviously fixed but at this point they seem to be permanently gone.

I tried to pop a 'rainy day' merc some weeks ago for giggles...

he didn't do anything, he just took a knee (as if negated) until time expired
there was no one around to have negated him, and when enemies did arrive at that outpost, he still didn't move

i faced an AD player in Blackwater blade WAAAY back, that did this at roebuck. he did nothing but camp in the back of the keep spamming mage mercs. he ended up stopping; was either the de-throning of an AD emp, or the crowning of an EP emp, one of those two, due to his merc spam.

i later tracked him down and mercileesly slaughtered both him AND a teammate he had with him, so i got revenge for the EP at some point.

ach, i go off topic too much. ANYWAY, you are correct. you may see them from time to time. alot of guilds have some saved up.

I have 15 of the Mage contracts 50k a piece or 700,000 for the lot message @Shaneburk89 or @Miscreantmyke in game if your interested. Also have 2 Merc contracts.

i remember when these were a hot item and very much spammed and very annoying. we would break into a castle wall and find upwards of 300 of these things coming at us for hours on end.
i would say thier worth alot more then 20k each because of thier rareness and the fact they will never again be available from the npc stores in cryodiil, prety much makes them priceless imo.
i had one left a few months ago and sold it for 60,000 gold.
the only thing i have now in line of this is 2 forward camps

and yes im willing to lay them down in cryodiil for no less then 1 mill each!
