Anyone else notice block not working?

idk what's up... but recently attacks have been making it through block on a regular basis. full stam and everything...

anyone else experiencing this?

Yes Yes Yes... Ever since 1.5 It's been very easy to notice.

noticed in pvp just last few days block doesn't work. oh well one more thing messed up, sigh...

It's not that block isn't 'working', what happens is that for some reason you just randomly stop blocking, even as you continue to hold the block button. You have to release and press block again to start blocking once more. I can't count the number of times I've died, then gone back over the video and seen myself just drop block with full stam in front of 10+ ppl and go from full HP to dead in 1 sec.

I have noticed this as well,
I was attributing it to lag or latency because there seemed to be no pattern to it.

I'm not even getting a visual queue when it drops.

Full stamina bar, block pose showing... yet I'm still having wrecking blows, etc., going through.

It wouldn't be so bad if I could see it drop, lol.

if youre talking about losing the animation of blocking, i get that a lot, but as far as i know your block is still up, its just the animation.

Not when it happens to me, the animation drops, and I'm suddenly not blocking. All incoming CC/atks come through full force.

I suspect it has to do with zos' server dropping or not reading packets when the hamster faints, since 'block' input has to be continuous or you stop blocking.

Block start = LMB down -> server says you're blocking -> LMB held down -> server sees no change, says you're still blocking -> LMB still held down -> dropped packets -> server sees a break in the 'LMB down' checks, says you're not blocking anymore -> LMB still down -> server doesn't see any 'LMB pressed' as opposed to 'LMB still held down', so it says you're still not blocking -> you die.

The server seems to be running like crap lately, so this makes sense.

Happens sometimes in dungeons too, makes tanking a real pain - combined with problems with taunt (hopefully fixed now?) it has taken a toll on my reputation. I guess i have to switch to dps if i want to group again..

I had this since release and 1.5 seems to have FINALLY fixed it for me

There are some bosses, like in banished cells, that are going through blocks. All their attacks go right through. I have also had the bug where you show that you are blocking but you have to reblock to actually block.

Yep I've noticed this. Blocking with full Stamina and stuff like Invasion knocks me down. Quite annoying. Only really noticed since 1.5.

Thanks for the reports! Just wanted to ask a couple of questions for our own clarification since we see a few different thing in this thread.

1. What server are you playing on?
2. Are you playing on a Mac or a PC?
3. Are you seeing the animation drop or is the animation remaining while attacks are getting through?
4. Are there specific abilities that are getting through? Light attacks? Heavy attacks?
5. Is this consistently happening in a specific area/zone or everywhere?

It happens alot for me during a weapons swap. Also there seems to be a small, and I mean small, window for you to be hit through block while casting instant casts in block. It probably happens all the time but you don't notice because the chance of a cc ability hitting you not just damage is pretty small in that window. Though the weapon swap window seems larger to me.

Not having you block while weapon swap is intended, that is not what others are claiming for this thread.

Turn your router off/on and reboot game then disable all of your add on's.

So yeah, when ever i hit a skill while holding block now it holds the blocking animation but i get hit like im not blocking. Also when i weapon swap and re apply block i'm also getting hit full damage without mitigation.

I had this problem up until 1.5 and I use mac. It went away once 1.5 dropped

Actually, block not working after swapping weapon has been happening to me occasionally even before the patch - Sanctum specifically seems to be the place when it happened the most, though after the patch I certainly noticed that I'm stunned/damaged/killed more frequently, on random occasions (usually while I'm in a group, fighting in dungeons), once I swap weapons or sometimes when I use abilities, even if I don't let go of block button and have full stam.

Also - not sure if it's connected i some way, but has anybody experienced "fake" weapon swapping? As in, I see my character swap weapons and see ability icons do the swap animation, but then it turns out that the weapon didn't switch at all, resulting in me using wrong abilities or ultimates.

I also notice that character animations don't work sometimes when I'm rotating abilities - I mean, sometimes an ability is not firing even though I pressed the button, but the other times, during the rotation my character just stops moving, yet I still see the ability fire and the damage registers in FTC.

I have seen my char dropping the shield (i.e. the animation shows block dropping, and the attacks start coming through) even if my block button is pressed. This happens occasionally if I use spells, move, swap weapons, or roll. I then need to reapply the block by releasing the button and pressing it again. Maybe too much input at the same?

It's not very consistent, i.e. usually the blocks stays up (or in case of roll or weapon swap, reapplies automatically after the action without me releasing the button first, but not always)

and the other info: eu server, pc client, happens at least in dungeons and cyrodiil.

I can say fro sure that block doesn't work in The Banished Cells (Veteran Mode) on second boss (the one with blue orbs) and on last boss - the funny thing, that you can't block ataks from boss (you simply don't lose stamina and you take full damag while holding block) but you can block atacks from ads - that's rediculus!

4. can't block any atacks and ablititys from boses
5. in The Banished Cells (Veteran Mode)

Yup since 1.5 patch, a lot of damage is going through block. I can block for about 5 seconds still have like 50-60% stam left (so i know it's not run out) and I get hit for 700 damage by a lethal arrow... are you tell me my 90% damage reduction reduced that shot by 90%? That would make that guy's lethal arrow around 8k or whatever if I wasn't blocking... that would be impossible surely?

Not sure if it's certain abilities but noticed surprise attack is going through block a lot and as well mentioned before lethal arrow (that's going through reflect as well... also to note that's not from DKs reflecting it back as well).
