Would also be interesting to add a slight movement decrease when the first foot lands on the ground from the jump and the inititial impact. Then it could be multiplied by 1.0 when wearing heavy armor.

    Why??

It makes sense for stamina (not that I want jumping to drain Stamina), but how does it even begin to make sense for magicka????

Do you need to cast a spell before you jump? I know I don't.

I am hoping (not hopping) that some of the posts on this thread are intentionally trying to be funny/ridiculous.
However, humans can be strange creatures, so I'm not entirely sure.

Sure, and why stop there??? We could add eating, walking, talking, drinking, emoting and posting ideas on the forums as stamina drains.

Jump I g doesn't give you any special advantage over anyone.

I think chronic jumping stems from WOW where jumping allowed you to turn easier..so everyone did it so constantly it became habit.

Meant to say everyones feeling froggy not foggy. Those are two different things. Anywayssssss, I knew everyone would hate this idea with a passion but! I'm talking about just a lil stamina just like the statmina that it takes to sneak? I bet half of you reading are like.... sneaking takes stamina? Yes it does and thats how little stamina it takes; because most people don't even know it takes stamina.

Well the minus stamina for jumping will prob never get popular but there should be something done so people don't get froggy for no reason. We mind as well be playing hello kitty island adventures with all that weirdness. This has been a prob in every mmo with a jump feature though, so i guess i should be used to it by now. It's an eye sore. Maybe trade "-50% stamina cost to do a dodge roll" for "jumping now takes a lil stamina"

I'm not a roleplayer but i do like the immerision that ZoS works so hard to keep with the awesome music and beautiful enviorments and cool looking stuff, when everyone starts jumping i just can't take any of that immerision serious anymore. So I'm not a roleplayer dressed like samwise scamgi when i play ESO but definitely a person that likes to get immersed into a game that focuses on immerision to create a living breathing world that you can participate in. LETS Put the RPG back into MMORPG.!

your in the air and so thats magic.

..its obvious you are a magika based character other wise you would not want any more things using your precious resource. Its already bad enough stam users cant sprint too much or risk having no resourse.

Yes, jumping should cost stamina, just like in Morrowind/Oblivion.

You want immersion in PVP... just find one of the impulse blobs... you'll be "immersed" pretty quickly.

Yes, jumping around should cost stamina... I mean, just hop around for a bit in RL, you'll see it is tiring.

So should swimming, while we're at it...

Or course, the "poor stamina builds drain all their fighting power through just running/whatever while unfit mages laught at them as they keep their magica" is a valid point, as most of us here are well aware.

What I would like to see is a collection of passives to help with that. Some "athletics" skill like much like the armor skill lines, mostly passives and maaaybe one active use skill... with passives that only reduce stamina cost for non-combat activities like running, jumping, swimming... maybe some other passives that fit into the theme, increased run and swim speed, maaaybe even a very slight stamina recovery increase...

And while I am spinning thoughts about stamina based activities... anyone here also vexed by how armor doesn't affect swimming? I for one would like to see armor reducing your swim speed (and increase stamina drain if that one was implemented), to the point where its foolish to try and swim in full plate mail... say, 20% penalty for light armor, 40% for medium and 80% for heavy... with perhaps the basic swim speed a bit raised to balance... would be a nice touch of added realism...

And since I am starting to get ideas, another thing that could be recovered from prior ES games are spells that help with movement. Water walking for one... or some sort of "feather fall" to migrate fall damage and allow people to make one jump with impunity. Perhaps even levitation, as very slow flight, though seeing how that would require more invisible walls to keep people out of places... maybe not that one...

Actually I play characters that use magic and stamina, but my points was based on reasoning. Jumping is a Physical activity, try jumping a lot, you'll soon be out of breath. There is no reason for it to consume magicka, apart from you wanting a balance that between stamina and magicka.

It would be better if Jumping didn't affect either, or as some have suggested that jumping and running tap into a different resource. But I can not see any legitimate reason for jumping to drain magicka.

Logically it should, but since jumping serves no real combat purpose, it's free. You can't jump to avoid attacks. All the developers care about is making the abilities which benefit the player have a cost. Jumping in combat has no benefit, which is due to the real problem that there isn't a real hit detection combat system in this game. There's nothing to jump over for it to be important.
