Question about Synergies

I've been curious about this for a while now. How many players can use the synergy from your skills/ultimate? How close do they have to be to you? Do they have to be part of your group?

Let's take the Undaunted skill Bone Shield, for example. It says "Nearby allies may use the Bone Wall synergy, granting a damage shield of 60% of their max health." I have a group of, let's say, 12 players. How many of those players will be able to use the Bone Wall synergy when I activate Bone Shield? How close do they have to be to me to use it?

I am wondering if synergies (of any type) are limited in the amount of players that can use it, or the distance they are away from you. I've been in areas where players have used a skill that has a synergy and I was able to use it and I wasn't even part of their group.

Within the radius of the skill itself and for its duration and even If your whole faction was stacked in that area of effect they could all use it.

Exception would be the undaunted alter where only one person can heal themselves at a time.

'area' and 'number of' .. highly specific terms..

The other thing I have noticed about Synergies, is it does not seem that I can just give a quick key press and make it happen, I have to be deliberate and hold down the key for a brief moment for it to trigger. Maybe it does trigger faster, but it does not always seem that way. And some synergies like the ones that leach health or whatever will stop your character from doing their thing, so keep that in mind for tactics.

That being said, it's like dropping another free Ultimate if you use them and you can then drop your Ultimate after, if needed. So, if you see the Press X for Y Synergy and you have no desperate need to heal your self or whatever, hold the X until you see the trigger (your character will do something so you will know) and then continue with your rotation.

Also, just in case as I did not know this, if you see Slip Away, you are not going be attacked while that is in effect, as you are Invisible. So use that time to reposition your self or take a healing break or charge up a heavy attack or look at your fingers and wonder why they are hitting wrong keys or whatever.

I think you know this, but you have to hit the X to get the Slip Away, it just does not automatically trigger. However when I read up on this and tried it in a battle, it was quite cool in that I stopped being attacked for the duration. And could move faster too.
