Purple Provisioning Materials Equivalency?

I would like to trade Tomatoes for the equivalent materials to make Consummate Honey Brittle. The equivalent food is either garlic, pepper or salt, I believe. Does anyone know which one has the equivalent drop rate as Tomatoes? I think Oats may be equivalent but are not needed for the brittle.

Thanks

Pepper is the most uncommon of those you listed, but still not quite equivalent to tomatoes or oats because pepper drops from containers while tomatoes and oats only come from hirelings.

Consumate Honey Brittle is Honey, Pinguis, Salt, Garlic and Pepper.
So you want either garlic or pepper, or maybe both (2 tomatoes for 1 Garlic & 1 Pepper)

I am not offering by the way, I only have the peppers and I'm using them.

Also you need to say what server you are on.

Fortunately, Pepper, Garlic and Salt are not that hard to find to find. While Rare, if you farm a building in Zones 4 and 5 you will find those with some regularity, figure 1 to 2 per city depending on RNG. Then again, I have gone days without seeing any of these 3 ingredients. I have over a hundred Salts and almost that many Pepper and Garlic. Pinguis on the other hand is something I don't see that often. I doubt I have 10 of that one.

I think Pepper is more common in the DC zones that in the AD, but I have found Pepper in Rawlkha (yes I miss spelled it)

Pepper would be the closest in the Honey Brittle recipe, my characters are drowning in Garlic and Salt but not Pepper; it's definitely the rarest of those three.

Tomato's true equivalent is Oats though, they're the only two that are exclusively hireling drops.

Pinguis you have to buy from the grocer, like imperial flour, and emperor grapes. Sometimes the provisions writ reward is one of these mats

That's good to know as that is one of the things I don't have on my Larder Mule (character who carries all of my Provisioning Ingredients)

Add Golden Malt to ingredients only from grocers. At least, I've never pulled it from containers. And it seems to be frequently needed for Provisioning writs. I'm hoping to get some back as writ reward.

It doesn't depend on the zone. All produce containers in all zones have the same chance of dropping pepper (or any rare cooking mat really). It might depend on your level, though I've gotten pepper from level ten on, but zones are irrelevant.

Please go to a guild merchant circle in the main city and compare prices. Tomatoes do NOT drop. They are hireling only and the exchange rate will be more than 1 for 1 or even 2 for 1 tomatoes. It may be more like 6 to 1 or better.

    Edit: I can spell sometimes.

Tomatoes are the rarest provisioning ingredient, followed by oats. It does not matter so much now that the purple recipes aren't that rare. Same tier purple food recipes all provide food with the same stats, but use different ingredients. One of the purple recipes does not use either tomatoes or oats.

Tomatoes used to be worth over a thousand gold each...
