Help - Dark Elf Sorcerer - What Was I Thinking?

Need some help & input. This was my first character in the game and she's now V2. I built her completely wrong - tried to be a healer but wanted to do ALL of the crafting so skill points were too diverse. So now I'm going to respec, but everything I'm reading online shouts that Dark Elves should not be sorcerers, and definitely not healers. Should I go tank or DPS with the respec? Grateful to anyone that has an opinion!

I have seen Wood Elf Sorcs so your Dark Elf should be fine. You still have increased Magicka (and Stamina) plus fire dmg bonus. I don't see any problem with your character racials as a Sorc tbh

You might have to go respec your skills until your farther into the game and get more skill points. I currently have my tank built for PVE, my main crafting (blacksmith,clothing, woodworking) maxed out on skill points and working on getting the other ones maxed. I still don't have all craglorn sky shards or cyrodill ones and I still have 16 unspent points.

So you might just need to hold up on the crafting until you get more of those points. As far as the dark elf healer you should be fine. All classes and all races can be all jobs.

Dark elves get bonuses to fire damage, so mine uses a fire staff. Plus they're fire resistant, that helps.

Like the others have said, any race can perform any role. Are some going to be slightly better than others? Sure. But that doesn't mean that you can't be a great healer with a Dark Elf.

Reroll a dk would be my spontaneous answer.

Other than that if you invest in all crafting lines you may be short on points. I did that before I realized how bad sorc were and felt little gimped..regretted that I didn't do a crafting alt.. Now I shelved my sorc for a dk so now I'm happy with my vr 14 supercrafter

I don't see why darkelves couldn't be sorc.. It will not be highelf efficient but well on par with the other secondary rases..

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Any race can be any class and any role. I only play Nord DK's, and I DPS, heal, tank, and craft with them. They may not be 100% efficient in any given role, but that's what I like to play.

IHMO, one should choose race and class how fun they are and what one want them to look like. As said before, any race or class can do be anything in this game. Please do not fall into the trap of the "Cookie build of the month" but enjoy the game.

I can be a min / maxer very easy, but I will burn myself out very fast if I do that. I have learn over the years, to make chars that I like is more important then what the numbers of the game tells me to make.

That's exactly what I did with my sorc: all crafts and heals. Works out great. But I went high elf.

I play with a very good nord sorcerer healer. Any race can be any role, even your Dunmer would have more applicable racials than him as well.

Dark elf can work just fine for a sorc, they loose out on 1% magicka, and some resource management / little bit of damage. But that really isn't really a big deal. I would say don't go tank as sorcs won't normally be picked up as a tank, healer and dps would be just fine, healer really would only be a little bit behind a breton / altmer healer for sustain. (I like my Dark elf sorc, I can be healer, magic dps or melee dps)
