Crafting Writs - I don't get it

So many people say that they're "great" - I don't get it at all. I have BS, Alch, Ench certified, my friend - provis, cloth.

BS - spend 50 vr1 ingots to white traiteless garbage - get nothing in return. No places to go (besides anvil), no plot twists - nothing. But it's easy at least.

Ench and provisioning - get specific rune/ingredient. You take the quest and forget about it till you find that rune or ingredient. Btw good luck finding vr5 ingredient in Cadwell Silver zones.

Cloth - suddenly needs vr9 ingredient - what? Why BS vr1, cloth - vr9, we're vr2! Get obliterated by wasps in craglorn - no thanks, I've tried.

Alch - undoable cause bugged.

So, what's so great about them? What am I missing? Imo hireling letters are more interesting than this.

Craglorn BS surveys give Nirncruxes. Only reason I do them. I also do the Enchanting one in hope of a Kuta or something, since my 2 enchanter hirelings started putting them in their own pockets some 3 months ago.

In the silver zones one of the two ingredients drop reliably for me, the second can be bought from the grocers. Then the reward is usually a couple 10 stacks of those ingredients.

BS gave me a survey which in turn rewarded me with 5 Nirncrux. Keep trying the BS one at least.

Provisioner gave me a purple recipe and always gives a stack of 10 of the items which you must buy to make vr5 food & drink - so they are really solid and the items are easy to make. Once debugged I imagine that alchemy will be similar.

I do think that it would help to have better rewards for max level crafters in wood, cloth, blacksmith - or at least ones that don't require burning a stack of mats for a roll of the dice.

FYI the level that you need to craft is related to your crafting level, not character level. And there is an odd mismatch in the system for low level crafter alts; I'm working up my 2 lowbies this weekend while they fix VR exp. I can't even find on a map the locations that they're supposed to go to for claiming rewards.)

With Enchanting at least, the Inspiration gains are quite large, 20,000 points per quest. That is the real reward for me. To get that much I would have to deconstruct a couple of dungeon runs worth of Glyphs. The writs I have done have taken just a couple of minutes to do. Now, if I ever have to hunt for a Rune, that will make it different.

The items I get are not that great, but the Inspiration makes up for it.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

You make a good point about enchanting as it is worth it for the inspiration, as that one is hard to raise. Well hardest of all anyway.

My problem with that is will you not eventually writ yourself into a corner? I mean when you get 40+ enchanting and if you get all the potency perks you will be getting higher level writs than your 'Adventure' level and you would meet a dead end of writs when you are sent to turn them into Coldharbor but have yet to unlock the Hollow city.

My Enchanter is L44/45 in Enchanting. The bugaboo I have run into is I put Potency all the way up to L9 so I don't get L8 Runes from my hirelings and not finding them in the world (maybe I am not looking in the right zones for those). However I can buy what I need from the guild store (lucked out and bought two stacks of 10 L8 Potency Runes for 500 gold a stack)

The writs did send me to Craglorn, but only to the city. I have not looked at the Enchanting map to see where that is going to send me. I am not ready for those mobs yet (VR4).

So, yes there is a disconnect between character level and skill level. They expect you level your craft skill with the character so it is possible to be sent to a zone you can't handle if you craft past your character level. That is a problem.

The provisioning, enchanting and alchemy (when it works) all reward fairly well (apart from the messed up xp for vet chars). These 3 are worth doing daily, the other 3, less so.

Would be nice if the weapon/armour ones were worth doing - if you get a writ that can be OK, otherwise a single piece of tat and maybe a trait stone like the other 100 you have in the bank already.

Do them for the "inspiration" if you're not a L50 Master, otherwise I'd recommend leaving them alone
