The Horse Simulator? I think not

So after reading some of the FC removal posts, I'm seeing a trend among the minorities view. This "Horse Simulator" claim and how without FC's, PVP is ruined to become...well a horse simulator.Curious as to just how much validity there was to this, I timed some horse rides between keeps and here are the results.

Testing methodology:
  • Rides were taken twice and then averaged.
  • No rapid maneuvers were used
  • These were not run like some kind of Grand Prix time trial, I swerved to avoid ganks, packs of mobs, water etc.
  • My horse is 21 Stamina, 64 Speed. Hardly the fastest horse in the game.

AD Results:
East Elswer Gate Transitus --> Bloodmayne: 1:47
Bloodmayne: --> Black Boot: 2:26
Black Boot --> Faregyl: 1:53
Faregyl --> Alessia: 1:57
Alessia --> Blue Road Keep: 2:16 (keep in mind Sej is in the middle of these two, as is that damn bridge where AD pugs go to feed AP to Frozn and his band of marry men ;)

    people are lazy and impatient.. its not a instant teleport so they complain.

    Did you fullsprint? So it takes only onehit to kill you? Unbreakable Cc after falling down...

    How fast is your horse? Maybe not everyone has 75% speed. My horse is at something about 33%...

    Moreover often you ride up 2minutes but as the game is now, unless you zerg or permasneak, staying alive long IN battle is barely possible as all enemies are bunched together. So you rather dont fight and just sit in the inner keep with sieges or bow, or you take the risk and probably die just ride up again. I dont mind riding 2 min but when its like you have ro ride 2 min for several times and it feels you ride more than anything else, well yes then the game feels like an riding simulator.

    But I guess you prefer zerging or ganking so it isnt a problen for you personally but for otgers it is.
    It isnt a l2p issue either as melee classes really can't and probably dont want to just hide behind 30 other friendlies just to not die.

    Time added by being ganked repeatedly on the way and resorting to sneaking: 47:13

    Keep Defense Fights missed because no way to get back into the keep after being killed by some animation-canceling exploiters while standing on the wall operating a siege engine: 2 (there weren't more in the 2 hours I was online)

    No wonder AD lost the last campaign... we have scientists running around Cyro measuring ***!!!

    Would be same damage on or off the mount, the falling off the mount is the downside of having that speed.

    Well 40 more days and you will have the fastest speed mount, that's the reward of that.

    That is what makes every battle special and unique, in a game that has RvR type mechanics. That wait time, though I do agree yeah sucks but it gives consequence to yours and others death. That's why it's on most peoples/websites list for being one of the best PvP games/mmo ever made.

    I and many others are fine with all sorts of PvP. Only PvP experience that has been ruined with the removal of FC is the dueling and the deathmatch approach that FC gave to RvR and that's not what it's supposed to be like.

    A good group can 50-50 a keeps posterns and flip the flags within 3 minutes of the keep going under siege. Now there will be no camps so double front door will be more viable and will be quicker.

    Any somewhat decent gankers, if they were around, would have gotten you,increasing your time. But grats on being lucky.

    For those who aren't so lucky "swerving," time waiting for the rest of the group and killing would-be gankers along the way adds at least several more minutes per change in objective. When forced to go it alone if your group is ahead of you, sneaking and waiting on stamina adds several more minutes for folks with no sneak skills. And it's always fun to finally get there in one piece and the action is already over. :-P


    Disabling the grass may improve performance.

    I love the lack of FWP. It forces people to think twice before charging into a large group. The amount of small combat fights I can get into as someone who does a lot of solo PvP is awesome! Just avoid the Zerg, because that has grown drastically in 1.52 as many people refuse to travel with less than 50 others.

    Every MMORPG player should be required to take an old Everquest boat and cross 2 zones on foot without bard speed, just so they can appreciate what they have.

    The lanes between keeps are getting more and more populated. I almost never ride alone (even when soloing), as I will normally wait for a random to travel with as traveling in pairs is way safer.
