Is it harder being a healer now?

Hey everyone, I just wanted to ask if it is more stressful/harder being a healer now because dungeons scale to V12 and from what I've played it seems like you need to be an amazing healer or shouldn't try dungeons.

I was a NB healer before and was able to heal CoH fairly well. I would rate myself adequate-good, but I kind of want to go back and try healing now but I'm afraid I wont be good enough and have wasted a Re-spec.

Sure. There is definitely more stress on healers and tanks to perform their roles adequately with the increased difficulty, as any weak links in either case generally result in group wipes. If DPS is the only issue a good healer should be able to sustain through a longer fight, assuming that the tank can keep everything corralled. However, this doesn't excuse a lot of the very sub-par DPS builds that I've come across in the past three days of running with the occasional pug group. If you have a weak healer AND weak DPS, you're going to have a bad time.

My healer is a templar, so from that perspective I would say that no healing isn't any more or less difficult.

As an aside, we couldn't find a healer for today's normal and vet undaunted so one of our nightblade DPS threw on a heal stick and didn't seem to have any issues.

It is as it has been always the case, a healer and a tank will have it a lot harder if the DPS are bad. This isn't about numbers but about their behavior and respect towards the other two.

I always play tank and heal and even the most difficult encounters are never too much, its the DPS who either ninja pull, stand in bad stuff or over agro.

A V12 version of course forces them to be more aware and this seems to be the issue right now.

It really has exposed who actually leveled through questing/dungeons and who ground their way from VR1 to VR14 in Craglorn, hasn't it?

Simple things like not standing in red circles, blocking power attacks, breaking CC...

Which one are you saying did it wrongly. I'd like to know because I'm still below Vet.

My main is a Templar healer. The current issue is that the margin for error is much smaller now. Seperate issue aside. A good healer used to be able to compensate for a bad group. And visa versa. I HATE having to remind people to stay out of the fire etc. I don't want to be that guy. But with the current scaling system, you are dead with one mistake.

So in answer to your question: yes healing is more difficult because tanking and dps are more difficult.

I have played this in two different characters. My restro staffed mage seems to be a bit harder as a healer. My templar doesn't have any issues. This is a good thing as it requires specialization. Now if I can remember that I am a templar healer instead of a tanking templar.

I've changed my style a bit over the past few weeks. What's made the most difference for me is slotting and using the hell out of Bone Shield for the group synergy. It'll never give you a shield, but it does to the rest of your party. I have enough def to where I'm not worried about being smacked by the boss or errant trash a few times. I would say Bone Shield alone gave me the ability to run with a VR Vet 14 Dungeon group of 3 DPS + me, successfully. Wasn't a perfect run by any means, but I'm constantly improving.

ESO is built around the players ability to roll, block, and their own situational awarenes. These things are just more highly stressed now and is no problem personally. Its gotten harder yes, and personally way more fun. I like that the takes my complete attention to heal and keep Jagermeister alive. Id be so bored if it was any otherway. +1 ZoS on this patch. #LightArmorHeal&Tank

First and foremost, I like healing the new Undaunted dailies. It's a lot more fun than I expected at first. Also feels meaningful as far as grind and rewards goes.

However certain scaled VR dungeon encounters are slightly over the top. It's almost rng, some 1 shot mechanics cant be avoided. For example:

Bogdan the Flame, Elden Hollow: Flames on floor suddenly stops re-setting. He's not doing the big sweep attack that clears it, so 99% of the floor is death. How am I suppose to heal that, fly lol?

Imriel, BC: To many orbs spawning. Very stressful as a healer, when there's little to no place where you can stand and regain magicka with heavy attacks.

Spawn of Mephala, Fungal: Does a knock-down, that cant be avoided and takes roughly 80% of your health. Than comes the red lasers and stuff on the floor and it spawns on you, while you're nailed to the floor. I it happens to the healer, it's instant death. There's no way to survive or roll-dodge out of bad stuff, when you're locked down.

Gamyne Bandu’s, Fungal: You can get chain down, while trying to break the purple beam. That's insta death. Also feel the chains spawns a little frequently, very annoying when it's the healer or the tank, that's always chained to the floor (with hard-hitting boss running loose).

Anyway, I'm sure other VR dungeons have simliar issues. Roughly 1-2 bosses with a mechanic that needs tweaking down, making it tricky to heal for a templar and impossible to heal for any other class.
