Last night I finally hit level 50 for the first time. I definitely took my time on this character as I did preorder this game, but now I am at a fork in the road. I have heard talk of the Champion System completely taking over and doing away with Veteran Ranks in the future. Is this true? My problem is that if I have to quest an entire faction again I would rather do it on an alt so that when Champion System hits I have two level 50's instead of one who has completed two factions and earned a few more points. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I really don't know where to go from here...

Yeah its true. But Champ System is still a ways out. If you want to experience everything on one character go ahead and do Caldwells stuff. If not then start Alts to experience the other two factions and then go back through when the Champ System comes out to get the skyshards on your main. The way it works is that they are tracking your XP for when the champ system comes so having more level VR1 isn't going to matter any more than having a VR14 character.

Questing in the Veteran Zones is worth the effort.
    - You get to experience all the content with your main character
    - You can gather all the skyshards and the skillpoints from the main quests of each area

I think a lot of people are hanging on this. They stopped leveling VR levels thinking the next update is going to implement the champion system. This is no good. The VR zones are empty - at least very few players are there - hard to get a group for dungeons. This is why I think ZOS should be more clear about how the champion system is going to work and when its going to be implemented - and how its going to effect your current VR characters. This way people can plan appropriately. What ZOS should do at least is tell us how it will benefit to level VR characters if at all.

Veteran zone have been generally empty since Craglorn was introduced and since Zenimax has stated that there will be no retroactive XP gains there is no point in leveling in the other alliance zones. Everyone just goes to Craglorn and grinds.

Well, not everyone. People who actually (crazy, I know) enjoy playing the game are still experiencing the content that's out there.

OP: The Champion System will convert your XP earned while leveling up in Veteran Ranks when it comes out. So holding off on content isn't going to be to your advantage.

Forgive me if i'm wrong but didn't Paul state in the recent ESO:Live that they had made the decision not to retro add XP so that everybody has a chance to work together and not just a few that would be so far ahead from the start?

See, it's this lack of info from Zenni that causes people to worry and stress over their chars and gameplay....

They've never said that. The latest information (and it's always been this way) is that earned Veteran Ranks will convert to Champion XP, but there will be a cap on that.

What you may be thinking of is that people who are currently VR14 and grinding to try and max out their XP now are not having that recorded on their character. Any XP gains past VR14 are apparently only being counted after 1.5 drops, since that's when the XP conversion happens.

I'm not sure quite why people are so concerned about that, since ZO has been clear that they will cap the amount of XP that transfers over in such a way that it prevents a massive imbalance.

I think the problem is coming from that there are little bits of info being given out to different formats. Unless you read multiple forums, facebook, twitter, ESO:live, ect...
It's hard to actually know what's going on in ESO and I don't mean gamers just repeating info with their twist on the interpretation.

We need a clear and concise explanation as to what they are planning so we can prepare in our own way and not just turn every forum post into a flaming session because person A read something differently than Person B.

Because clearly I meant the literal meaning of everyone and not the common usage of the vast majority of people. I enjoy the game as well, but with my main at V12 and having recent gotten a second Alt to V2 I'm not wasting anymore time grinding a broken system that they plan on changing anyway - if I'm to play I'll get my other alts to V1 and take a break until they decide actually rewarding XP to people to be a good idea.

Well, here's the most recent comprehensive look at the champion system, where pretty much nothing has changed since the last comprehensive look at QuakeCon: http://lotrocommunity.com/forum/topic/3282-champion-system-changes/

Of what I've seen, the vet zones were always empty. I don't think it's primarily related to Craglorn, merely that many players just take their time and are still in the 1-50 zones.

I only can speak for myself, but I don't care much about retroactive XP and such, I played and had fun as it was (and I still have), and when they change that system, I just continue playing.

When I finished all zones and quests (including the Cyrodiil quests) and got my Tamriel Hero, I was VR11. I soloed everything and couldn't level up any further.
And then, the worst thing I could have done to my character, was grinding in Craglorn to get to VR14 (for which I did have to group, of course). That's not an achievement, that's just stupid. In "heart and mind", I'm still a proud VR11... well, and almost embarrassed to be VR14..

I highly recommend to not go grinding for that, the "yay, I gained progress" feeling is no more.

I know, the last part was almost off-topic, but you mentioned Craglorn grinding, so I couldn't help but adding it.
