Basically what the title says. Vote, discuss!

This can be in terms of your overall play time, or your performance in-game / the performance you expect from your group or guild(s).

I don't fit on the scale. im one of those players that plays allot, but prefers solo or alting or crafting. i do group content when i can, and in many MMO's I've been a hardcore raider and even raid leader many times for larger guilds.

I just prefer more relaxed playing right now. but when i group up or raid, im quite serious about it.

usually i would stay in the hybrid scale for sure , but in ESO nowadays i think im starting to become more of a casual.

There is just nothing for me to do other than pretty much PvP and im not that much of a PvP player.

I have more important stuff to do in real life than to sit in front of my comp playing ESO all day despite the fact that I would like to sit incront of my comp playing ESO all day. But when I do play, I play to win...usually...

I don't think you can get a real result from the poll without a clear definition of what a Casual and Hardcore is.

In my opinion a Casual doesn't play every day but could very well once a week play for 10 hours straight.

A hardcore doesn't necessarily play 15 hours a day but maybe each day of the week for 2-3.

I see myself in the Casual section as I don´t play on a daily basis and sometimes don't even play for weeks.

In the end its all about where someone's priorities are, does the person want to squeeze every bit of damage out of his char or does he not care much. Does he dump his GF to spent an hour in the virtual reality or does he drop a group for a diner with his / her family.

In my opinion is the real Casual a very rare breed these days, most players log on every day and spend a lot of their free-time in the game and not so much with family & friends.

I prefer the term "Hardcore Casual". I have too many real life responsibilities to be hard core. I just don't have the time. So I play for fun.

    @temjiu... well said.

I have been playing just one character for 6+ months and I am only VR8. Which sounds pretty casual. But I play a few hours just about every day which sounds pretty hardcore. I solo most of the time which seems pretty casual. But I have a bunch of the "hard mode"/"death challenge" achievements in Vet Dungeons which sounds pretty hardcore.

So I have no idea if I am hardcore or not!

I'm not sure that's actually Casual. I look at it from the amount of Leisure Time I have. I need and average of 8 hours sleep a day, I work 8 hours and travel for an Hour. I spend 4 hours preparing for work, exercising, cooking etc. That's 21 hours leaving me 3 hours to play on week days. On weekends I have more time to spare but Shopping, Cleaning and Playing Tabletop Games limits the game time too. If you're spending more than 90% of your leisure time on the game I'd think that that can sometimes be called "Hardcore".

I'm a hardcore social gamer that play games with a laid back, relaxed attitude, who do not fear challenge but hate min-maxing, powerlevel, and play the best build 'cause other have said so (and addons, I hate addons).
However at the moment I spent all my free time playing games, taking care of my guild, browsing forums and record/edit several videos by week, I guess I can hardly call myself casual :open_mouth:

My /played isn't as hardcore as it once was, but I feel like my "hardcore" mindset is present when I'm ingame.

I will play in excess of 40 hours/week (retired old fart) in any MMORPG I enjoy, but I am not a cutthroat, elitist, min-max, gear-*** jerk. I play to enjoy myself; I despise raiding as the most boring activity on this planet and think zerg PvP is so inane and mind-numbing as to be a fool's game.

Unfortunately, raidng and zerg-PvP seem to be prerequisites for the title of "hard core"; if so, I have no desire to be hard-core.

Or where your character never truly dies.

I reserve the "hard core" term for those games that permanently delete your toon on its death gear and all at a minimum.

I'm a hardcore PC old school player from the 80s who hates new game features like regenerating health, auto-aim & big hitboxes, and excessive amount of handholding with quest arrows etc. Even though I don't play anymore as much as I did during the Eye of the Beholder and Quake 1 days, my gaming skills are still so high that I can't enjoy most new AAA games, because they're made way too casual and easy these days. I only play on PC and if an AAA game can't be modded harder I usually don't buy it. These days I mostly play Indie games and niche hardcore games which don't sell well and aren't popular because they're so hard.

Morrowind was the last TES game I could play unmodded, Oblivion and Skyrim were just boring without hardcore mods. ESO is also way too easy game for me, I only play it because I like to roleplay with other people.

I think the hardcore choice needs a little more definition. I chose hardcore, but I do not consider myself elite by any means. I chose hardcore because I play 12-24 hours a day, pretty much every day. I do all crafts, I do all day gathering sessions, I run a VR10 dungeon over and over and over for 16 hours. I consider that hardcore.

I do not insult other players, kick them out of groups because they said something I disagree with, or try to tell them how to play because I am better than they are. This is what I would consider "elite" (at least in the sense of the MMO meaning, not elite as in "very good".). In this scenario you are hardcore, just a hardcore d-bag.
