Is it just me or is Cyrodiil incredibly boring??

Except for the rare occasions when I find an evenly matched small skirmish or 1v1, Cyrodiil is getting very dull for me. Any sizable fight brings major lag and client crashes, and even if I don't crash I just get killed over and over by pulsar/devouring swarm spam if I even try to get close to the fight.

Was this the PvP "endgame" that Zenimax intended? No offense but...it sucks.

I am waiting until Imperial City to see if that can salvage what is left of the PvP in this game. I will reserve my final judgement until then. But I suspect that it may end up being more of the same spammy *** as Cyrodiil, just in a smaller space.

For a game with so much PvP promise it doesn't seem that we are going to see it live up to its potential. And that is a real shame.

    what you are seeing now mostly are the die hards who have tested every bugged set of armor..every skill set..every weapon..maxed out all armors (leather heavy and cloth) and may be on their second or third class.

    Its getting that time that we need some new content to shake up the bag.

    Just you bro, Im having a blast so much to do all the time I don't even pve anymore, Group up with guildies and smash massive groups when that gets tiring switch my bar up and go exploring with a friend killing small groups or having crazy long 1v1's with other people who know how to play good.
    Its a lot more fun with team speak and friends I guess.

    I would love it if I could stay logged in for more than 30 minutes with crashing to desktop or lagging out so bad that everything on screen freezes.

    The gripping fear of a crash that I have when I am anywhere near any action is the worst part. It needs to be fixed by who know when (if) it ever will.

    I surely hope you have maxed out all Morphs, all skills, all weapons and all armors. I still have Bows to train but I think I'm gonna do that next and try a bow wielding DK.

    It's amazing, but anything after 6 months, with that being the only thing can get boring.

    I use to be anti-arena. I would LOVE 4v4v4 arena right now.

    The problem I have is not with powerful enemies, I love 1v1 when I can find them. The issue is that they are few and far between, and large-scale battles just have too many lag-related issues right now

    Ive gotten to the point where I feel like everything I do in Cyrodiil is old hat now, been there, done that.

    Emp run, scroll cap, keep cap, keep defense, oil party, scroll party, open field gank n spank, small group denial of tents, zerg balling, using a ram on a postern mid siege for the lulz, dueling, spawn camping, leeroy jenkins 1vX (sans video), 300 kill streaks, dying 20 times in a row because i just dont care. rolled up toons on all three factions. playing every class to vet levels. got all the skyshards, got all the lore books, did all the dungeons, died to slaughterfish, died to more slaughterfish on purpose, danced naked in front of the scroll temple of ni-mohk on a dead campaign trying to get anyone to attack me...

    Yeah, did all that, whats left.

    Hmm, the alliance war itself aside, Cyrodiil could be nice to quest in. The fact that you may encounter a skilled human enemy any time makes it rather more thrilling IMHO. However, after a while I realised Cyrodiil is actually one gigantic wasteland with the occasional city or vilage where almost all quests originate. And these quests aren't very involved. They don't have a follow-up story like in PvE. IMHO the game would be more interesting if Cyrodiil were muchc more heavily populated with NPC, follow-up quests ect..But perhaps the "justice system" is designed to create that experience.

    Yeah stuff is getting a bit old. I find myself rolling my eyes at all the DKs derping about now. But the problem is forward camps and the nature of sieging keeps. You're getting big groups in a couple of places on the map and nothing else in between. The best stuff is the small scale 1v1s, 2v2s, etc. But as soon as you initiate one of them, 20 more players are riding over the horizon running to the same objective. Adding in some smaller objectives for solo/small groups would help break up the map a bit.

    Exactly, I stealth around looking for decent fights, but people almost always roll deep and it's suicide to go up against them. Guess I should've rolled DK, they don't seem to have any trouble soloing 10 players.

    LOTS of people have had issues in Cyrodil since launch and ZOS has acknowledged it. Good for you that you're not having any issues, I'm not really either, but that doesn't mean everyone else just has crappy PC's

    Now I am using my abilities, but my character doesn't do the animations, so I can't tell unless I watch my buff bar. This is retarted. I don't understand how anyone thinks this is fun.

    Luckily the PvE is great on this game, so at least there is that. But had I known that the PvP was so horrible I probably would have went with another title, because that is all I really wanted to do in the first place.

    It's pretty simple really, if you want consistent fun, non laggy action, go out with a duo/smallman and gank behind the major sieges. Keep poking and eventually you'll get an organized group that wants to wipe you. Those are the fun fights.

    During non peak hours you also get smaller sieges that are manageable without bad lag. But if you're getting rolled 'over and over' by impulse trains, all I can recommend is that you learn to read the flow of battle better.

    You misunderstand me, that's all I do. My friend and I just hang out stealthed on the fringes of the sieges and try to pick people off. It's really the only way to avoid lagging out or crashing, and it's also the only way to get in some real skill-based PVP in.

    But this gets a little boring after a while. Is it too much to ask for some small-scale PVP objectives? Dueling? Arenas? Something other than riding on the coattails of zergs?

    Apparently it is, because anytime someone brings it up a lot of people chime in on how it would "ruin the game."

    The impulse monkey spamming is boring. Boring to do, boring to fight, and the lag it causes ruins pvp. Players spamming that should be banned. I'd like to see new objectives that give points. Hills, roads, valleys, bridges and villages.

    I would think most of the dedicated PvPers agree on your point that there needs to be some variance. But as ive found with PvP in this game so far its more so on the players to police or create a certain play environment.

    In your case i would recommend finding a few other players looking for small scale PvP and go cap a keep resource and hold it for as long as possible (not necessarily with an oil farm). You could also try switching up your build to see how long you can yolo into the impulse trains (any class but sorc can do it).

    This is a game with lots of possibilities, you just need to find some more builds and players you like to play with

    Well OP, the justice system will effectively allow us to duel ppl. Any small scale PvP objectives would probably just be zergged down as resources are or ignored entirely. And the devs already stated that the arena from quakecon is not something they have plans to implement, but just a platform for the expo.

    As for the cheese wheels, we just have to hope that ZOS follows through on what they said and removes the aoe cap.

    So yeah, Thornblade right now? Crashing, lagged out for just about everyone...can't respawn, can't go through doors, and I was invincible for about 5 minutes killing people.

    Must just be my computer though, right?

    Haderus is actually my home campaign, and I crash on there as well (although it doesn't usually have server rollbacks). The client also crashes in PvE.

    Lagging is a relative issue. My son has a new Alienware laptop designed for this kind of gaming, and he lags a whole lot less than I do with my computer that was just adequate for Skyrim three years ago.

    But, even he experiences lag in heavy fights.

    And the client crashes? The inability to use abilities or go through keep doors, etc.? Rubber-banding?

    Relative issues to be sure, as they do not affect everyone at the same time, but judging by the amount of forum posts in which users complain about these issues, it is hard to imagine that lack of processing power or network throughput is causing the bulk of them.

    I linked the specs to my rig above, check it out. If this system can't run ESO flawlessly then something is terribly wrong with the basic design of the game, and I don't believe that is the case. I think that this is a server issue.

    Lately, I've wondered if the way that the client and/or server handles lost packets is to blame for the client crashes. Like instead a momentary network blip causing some rubber-banding or semi-freezing, the client just craps out and crashes. Although there really is no way for us to know what is going on behind the scenes, I guess.

    Another thing that may cause problems is addons. But given the horrible default UI there is no way that I could play this game without them, so for me at least it's either suffer the crashes or unsubscribe. Yesterday I turned off all addons and went into Cyrodiil to try to find some big fights and see if I could force a client crash, but after I got stuck in a keep again because a postern door wouldn't open I gave up and left.

    I think I'm done with Cyrodiil for now. No point in going there if it is just going to make me end up quitting what is otherwise a great game.

    I think this is the best PvP I've been a part of in a long time, and I think it's easily the most engaging element of ESO.

    Opinions are weird like that.
