next question - why do the crosshairs not actually have anything to do with targeting?

u can point the crosshairs directly at a target, and select someone/something that's 90 degrees to ur left!

shouldn't what i'm pointing the crosshairs at be what i am selecting??

Hitboxes/targetboxes are bigger than actual objects most of the time. Great for combat, not so great for selecting people to talk to next to cabinets/chests.

what about when i put my crosshairs over a spider or something and end up crystal sharding a tiny beetle on the ground next to them?

and also why will it always prioritise a dead lootable over a living hostile? "heres this thing trying to kill u, but fire everything at this harmless lootable corpse instead..."

Yes, so annoying when you kill a rat nowhere near where you were pointing. I only play NB, I have noticed that strife will often not fire unless the crosshairs are on the creature even while all other skills are pummeling the poor sap into oblivion.

If you're having trouble staying soft-locked on to what you're looking at, you can hard-lock with Tab. Useful if you want to continue attacking something if something else gets in the way.

Or just center the darn camera so we know what we are looking at by the way our character is facing.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.
