Any reason class abilities don't set off weapon enchants anymore?

Granted i could be mistaken as I tend to use the primary weapons as well but I seem to remember class abilities setting off weapon enchants.
At least the melee ones. Noticed it on my Nightblade that Weapon Enchants were not going off at all with any of the class abilities...Signed on my DK and tested it as well.. and most certainly they're not working on any of his abilities also.
