Proper Argonian Naming Conventions? Need advice.

First off let me say that I have read the various Argonian Name Wiki pages and articles.

I am still confused as to the proper phonetics of the name I am trying to go for.

I am creating an Argonian 'Dark Brotherhood' type character, given the Argonian connection to Sithis and the Hist I like the idea. Plus the Argonian model is awesome in ESO.

Im Considering the following names (I have them reserved).

Mother's Milk (I think looks the best)

Mother's-Milk (Looks wonky to me)

Milk-Of-The-Mother (Without the Apostrophe)

I realize that Argonians don't lactate, Im thinking more along the lines of the Night Mother and a closeness or bond there. RP wise maybe a second generation Dark Brotherhood member...

Maybe Blood as a Hist?

Im trying to figure out which of the three is phonetically correct. I can only find ONE Argonian name in the literature with an apostrophe, and only one with an apostrophe and a dash. I think the Apostrophe and the Dash together look silly as hell.

So which way is correct?

One thing to keep in mind, they are not born into the Shadowscales or the Dark Brotherhood. Entree into the Shadowscales is usually reserved for those born under the sign of the Shadow. But there is no reason to think that a hatchling would be destined for this path in life, so no reason to name them as such.

So, any name can work in this regard. For example

Ocheeva and Teinaava. Their rival, Scar-Tail, was also a Shadowscale

Of course, one could change their name later on in life.....
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I don't think there is a Sithus but I do believe there is a Sithis. Anyway, if you look around in all of the TES games, you will find all of them will have the dashes, or most of them. If you want to try and RP or stay close to TES way, then do the dashes. Otherwise, it's all you!

P.S. I made a Dark elf Nightblade named Dread Lord Sithis for the Dark brother hood!

either Mother's-Milk or Milk-Of-The-Mother. I know it can look sort of odd, but I'm sure you know that most Argonian names have the dashes. If I made an Argonian, I would definitely feel obligated to use a dash or two lol.

Right now, I'm working with "Milk-Of-The-Mother". Not sure if I am going to keep him yet, Im wracking my brain for other names...

I did find that "Lifts-Tail-High" wasn't taken... So I now have a female Argonian crafting alt...

My main is Sings-No-Praises, a sword and board Templar healer, that Im really enjoying.

Funny thing, I HATED playing an argonian in Oblivion and Skyrim, always went sword and board Nord. But... I cant step away from the Argonian's in ESO for some reason

I don't know about those choices but my pun on your player name would be "Three-Lions-Passant-Gardant-on-Red" which is the basic heraldry of that family, though not used in every case :).

    # edit: Or perhaps just Three-Lions-Guarding :D

The SCA herald in me wants to suggest "Gules-Three-Lions-Passant" :-D

(And maybe my next one should be "Incurable-Nerd".....)

You may have been trying to be helpful but the OP says he looked at that in his first sentence.

To answer the OP, this one looks right to me, except the "of" and "the" shouldn't be capitalised. On the wiki page adjectives in names aren't, eg. "Tooth-in-the-Sea".
    Milk-Of-The-Mother (Without the Apostrophe)

For a non-Cyrodilic name you could look to other languages. Argonian culture has a little bit of an Aztec flavour. You might find something there for an unhyphenated name. For a hyphenated name ancient Egyptian works.

I got lucky when I made an Argonian alt for goof. Blade Runner was on.

I have… seen things you people wouldn't believe… Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those… moments… will be lost in time, like tears… in… rain. Time… to die…

So, "Tears-in-Rain" sounded kinda cool as a name. Although "Time-to-Die" would also work for how poorly I play a templar. I would be the one dying, somehow.

No, the device has the lions Guardant not Passant. I originally put Passant even though I knew the heads weren't looking towards the front then I checked up on it and corrected what I wrote. Apparently the heads in profile with the body walking is Gardant, I learnt something new when I looked it up ;). I agree on the Gùles, I just figured it wouldn't be very comprehensible to the standard reader. Hey I'd pun yours as Two-Cat-Universe ;).
