We need a 1handed weapon tree and an unarmed tree.

we should have a 1handed tree, perhaps focused on fencing or some sort of pirate/ evasive theme.

We do have a One Handed Tree. Just don't use a Shield if you want to Fence.

As for Unarmed, I agree, it has been missing from TES for too long and needs to come back. But, they need to address Stamina first, as that is about all you would have with an Unarmed Skill line.

Of course if they do this, then they need to add an Unarmored skill line, and then of course Clothing that is not armor, but still has traits and buffs.

I mean, I get where you're coming from, but the Sword and Board skills (and most, if not all, of the passives) don't work if you do not have a shield equipped.

The closest thing I've found to a fencer, right now, is a sword with a defending dagger off hand.

Equipping just a 1h weapon right now gets you Sword and Board XP, but it doesn't let you do anything with that.

Seriously? My DK is 1H/S but I have never actually tried to just use the Sword. There are skills in the line that are Blade only (Puncture etc) and just some passives for Block. But we can block with any weapon, so......

I wonder if it is Deadly Bash that drove this. Using that skill can be quite effective. Even just normal bashing with the Shield, gives 1H/S almost a Dual Wield attack

I've always found the idea of punching/kicking people in armor rediculous. Too many people watching kung fu movies and thinking you can do anything with enough skill.

Now, if we are talking about some sort of boxing game at taverns or something, that would be cool.

I wouldn't say we need it, but agree that it would be nice to have, and an addition without the need for entirely new weapon models, which is probably quite an entry barrier for new weapon types.

About unarmed I'm personally less enthusiastic, but it's a crowd pleaser apparently, so why not. I could see it as magicka based melee centric line, so it would fit right in with with the armor types we have.

We dont NEED it , but sure , the more the better, still i wouldnt count on zen adding anything like this before the first expansion lols.

Also if i could vote for one , then i would say add polearms/spears in the game.

Think he's talking about something like skyrims dual wielding with sword and spell. Like i do like this idea can help out for say spellsword players cause right now the only spellsword stuff they can do is spells and not much sword. Like I'm sure some players wanted to be like the high elf hero from the trailer using a sword in one hand and a eletric whip war of the worlds disinagrater ray thing in the other.

We're talking about a game with vampires and werewolves and fireballs and meteors "on demand". You seriously have a problem with channeling magika/chii w/e for barefist? You don't have a leg to stand on. Wuxia movies = eastern fantasy/superhero movies. It's literally the same thing expressed differently.

I agree on both.

Unarmed and 1 hander is needed.

To add to that... Base skills in these lines should be absolutely basic looking with no magick effects.. If magick effects really are so important, then leave at least other morph without any magic stuff..

I would also add that spellcrafting or something else in the future should have spells you can equip like a weapon. A spell in a weapon slot having light attack and heavy/charged attack. I hate the system where we have to basically be wielding a weapon at all times.. Especially after weapon swap is unlocked, if you want to have mage with no weapon equipped, you basically have to abandon the seconf cast bar as weapon swap will not work if there is no weapon in other set

I disagree. People always use the 'magic' excuse to just break any sort of realistic bond with the fantasy world, which is exactly what holds the fantasy together. If you can enchant fists with fire damage, it is still more useful to use weapons with fire damage on them (reach, durability, probably power) and/or less powerful against armor than weapons would be. Just b/c magic is in the world doesn't mean things can get stupid.

Yeah, dual wielding anything larger than a couple knives is actually more "unrealistic" than taking someone in armor out with your bare hands.

Going after someone using a sword with your bare hands is pretty stupid too, but it's not like it'd be the first terrible weapon choice the game presented you.

TES always had an uneasy relationship with unarmed combat. People going on about Monks kicking ass remember some modded version and not vanilla of the recent single player titles. So I wouldn't get my hopes up.

PS: Monk/Martial Arts classes in other MMOs usually aren't fighting unarmed. They tend to have a variety of weapons available, knuckles, cestii, bo staffs, nunchakus, etc.

Remember that heavy armor REALLY slow someones down, that's why they used horses a lot. So it wouldn't be that hard to dodge and make the guy fall down if he is on foot.

Also, dual wielding is rare in reality, as someone said people used parrying daggers, it was called the florentine style I think.
There was also very very few warriors in the arena of the Roman Empire dual wielding swords but it was very rare and needed a huge amount of practice, even then a sword and shield was always the best to take.

I liked unarmed in Morrowind. Punch someone until their stamina runs out, only then you will start dealing damage with your hits.

I'd like to see One-Handed be viable, but I don't know how to accomplish this. Frankly, I'd rather see spears.

Dual wield style would not make much sense with anything larger than a long knife, at best the size of a short sword. We can already use 2 axes or maces, which even if not massive in size would still be pretty cumbersome and slow to use. Not to mention wielding 2 massive 2-handers, Diablo style, which, oh well...

1-h style certainly makes sense, even without a shield on the off hand. A good example is a katana, which even if not really massive in size, suits the 1-h style without an off hand (because it actually requires the use of both hands at times and to proceed power attacks).

Bare hands style would be purely martial arts, in theory you would be at a disadvantage, but alright, this is a fantasy world and the monk type character is well known. Plus, anyone using bare hands would rely in extreme speed and critical strikes on vulnerable locations, obviously you would not go pounding on a shield or a chest plate and trying to dent it.

However, the bare hands can still be a deadly weapon, true masters of the trade can dispatch opponents quickly, and it matters little if they are carrying knives, swords or shotguns. As I said, it would all depend on the speed and knowledge to strike at the vital locations and would also depend on the skill of the armed opponent.

To sum it up, we could certainly have those skill lines available, nothing wrong with them, they could even blend with the "lore".

Katanas is used with 2 Hands or with Dagger in second. And again Martial Arts has nothing to scale with like Weopon DMG ^^
