"Horses no longer require momentum to jump forward, and can now jump from a stationary position to make it easier to get over objects you are very close to"

Seriously?! Was it that difficult to begin with to turn around or step back?

In approximately 75% of the game, it was absolutely impossible.

Only if you were somewhere a horse shouldn't be, and even then all you had to do was dismount and walk.

It was only a problem for about 2% of the game.

Maybe, but it sucked going along on your horse and then getting stopped by a rock. Then turn around, go in another direction or get a run up on the rock. Since you had to time your jump so the apex of the flight path would clear the obstacle, the jump had to be be made several feet before the object, and this was several feet before anyone would think they had to jump.

It is a good change. Now they just need to fix the diagonal jumping with PCs.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

It was only a problem for about 2% of the game.

That 2% sorta sucked, and it's getting fixed.

Was escorting a scroll today, and for those unfamiliar with such shenanigans it generally involves a whole lot of horse butt in the face at warp nine.

First guy in the line skirts a small rock that he can see, neatly jumping through. The rest had a screen full of horse butt, and now just plunked their horse into the side of a small rock---dead stop.

Some go around, some backpedal, and ironically, some just get off their horse because their puny humanoid legs easily traverse small rocks that creatures domesticated solely for their superior transportation value can't overcome.

Except when you consider that terrain was made with no recognition for the fact that our horse don't actually have articulated legs to scrabble up small obstacles, and neither can they jump them from a standstill. At that point it's a bit of a "sigh" moment.

No, this isn't a story of gamebreaking tragedy--we where not ambushed at the precise moments our horses had a derp moment or anything like that. It's just a really good example of something that clearly lacked polish, and now it's getting it.

Score one for the good guys.

Fair enough, I was just pointing out it wasn't 75%, any QOL improvements are nice.

Well yeah, it was an estimate not an accurate figure.

Now if they'd only fix the various 3 inch high walls? steps? that stop you in your tracks till you go around or jump over them. The jumping thing suffering from the same momentum issue although to a lesser degree than the horse. I am talking mainly about that little ledge at the top of the stairs in keeps though there are other such places in game. That one is the most annoying.

......With this recent change I am now determined to go back and jump over every miniscule thing that has stopped me in my travels.

That exceedingly small rock in Auridon? Coming back for ya.
The slightly tilted steps found in a ruin in Grahtwood? Comin for him too.
The small, weird bumb in the road in Greenshade? I shall jump over him thrice.
The small excuse of a log in Reaper's March? My horse shall winnie in joy at the triumph.

All who have shamed me I shall shame in turn! By jumping over them.

69.007% of me is made up of water. Percentages aside... look at my horse, my horse is amazing:

BTW, this is a good change as horses can jump forward in real life from a stand still.

Honestly, my problems are misstiming jumps, which stop all forward momentum. It is irritating to have to stop, back up, and try again.

This way, I don't clear a rock or wall, I just hit the jump button again and clear it. It is more psychologically easier than anything having to do with a real problem. lol
As a casual player I was satisfied that at one point I had a char max level and near max crafting with almost all motifs and I pretty much lost interest. Then ESO discovered DLC's and now my main is just a wanabe and I am happily pulled back into the game.

Having horses rear up was always great fun, if it is gone it will be missed.

I'd imagine they'll still rear up. You just need to be standing still to do it vs pressing forwards + jump to clear whatever pebble/twig/imaginary wall is in your way.
