More Traditional Raids Being Discussed

In the 3rd ESO Live stream, we were informed that the devs were speaking about implementing more "traditional" raids to ESO as a result of some feedback from Guild Summit.

What do you think about this? How should they go about implementing them?

I think it'd be good to have a discussion going on & provide some feedback/ideas from the community :)

Oh well , i think i will like until now wait and see.

but if this game becomes like the other MMOs i left , i will also leave this one lols , im not that young anymore on interested in this of thing anymore.

Then again , the way this game is going and what they have been focusing i guess leaving is only a matter of time.

What do you mean "like the other MMOs"? Would you care to elaborate?
Trying to gather some constructive feedback

Do you mean like other MMOs in terms of dungeon length, loot, mechanics... what exactly do you think could be improved on?

And since the current focus of the game doesnt satisfy you either, how would you do things differently?

Well, traditional raiding can mean a lot of things.

    1. EQ & Vanilla Raids / TBC & HS

In those you needed large groups of 40 or more players while beating huge encounters that had a huge variety in loot, abilities and tactics. These raids took 4 hours or days to complete and had a huge pre quest to get attuned.

    2. WOW today

In those you need smaller groups up to 20-25 and the bosses use old abilities with minor tweaks. As example, the spikes are now arcane damage and not frost, the boss does teleport itself on to a balcony and not the cellar or another room ... Besides that those raids exist in several difficulty setting which in the end are all the same just that more damage needs to be dealt / less received.

These raids also have massive enrage timers so that DPS is what matters most and not the ability to find a good tactic for your group that might be weak in dealing damage.

    3. Ultima

Raids were player made like on a town or some huge encounter in the world. While you had dungeons it wasn't like a fixed story to go through, these things just did exist and you could do stuff and some of that stuff needed help by other people.

Personally, I think that the Devs want to get away from the leader boards as these seem to be not that fun for most people. In future the boss kill will count and not how fast or with how many deaths you did it.

I think it's a good thing. We see a high turnover rate among players that hit VR14 and then are left with nothing really to challenge them. Progressive raiding would give them that challenge and keep them subbing longer.

I'm not a big raider myself but I do understand the importance of having a strong end game for an MMO if you want to keep your players over the long haul.

In wow I always prefered the 5-mans and heroic 5-mans over the big huge raids.

I also did my 10, 25, and 40 person raids as well. I just found the 5-mans to be more fun.

Please, all I ask is that players who wish to spend their time engaging in PvP, small group play, or solo play be able to obtain equally powerful gear through their preferred play style. Thank you for your consideration.

eh, if by raids they mean content for more than groups of four, I'm not that interested myself. It's hard enough getting everyone together for stuff like trials. This sounds like something the big guilds would def want for themselves.

If "traditional raid" means more content in sense of duration of that raid, more versatile and interesting mechanics - than i am all for it .

I'd love to see some traditional 12, 24, + man raids.

The public dungeons were another thing that I thought were pretty enjoyable, albeit most of them could be completed with 1 to 2 people. Making some seriously big public dungeons would be cool.

If they could figure out the lag issue, I'd like to see open world raiding as well as traditional grouped raiding.
It's just that I don't see only 12-man or 24-man traditional raids being very popular to a majority of The Elder Scrolls players. Just look at all the hate from Craglorn.
I think a mixture of the two content would go over better
Some examples of open world raiding: What if when Dark Anchors are not defeated and left to gain hold, Molag Bal's forces start to try to take over certain parts of the zone (should be random when this happens not every Anchor should do this every time, it would get old).
Or maybe, randomly, a Daedric Prince get's bored and decides to let loose something nasty on the world.
    How about Cyrodiil?
Can you seriously think that the Imperials and Molag Bal's forces are just standing around doing nothing while each alliance is fighting over their own piece of Cyrodiil pie? (Dodges flaming projectiles from pvp about adding pve in their zone while screaming "It's true, they wouldn't!")
