I've used the PTS a few times while the NA megaserver was down for maintenance, but just to try out builds and *** around with different classes. Not to actually test content.

Why? Because judging by the comments it seems like most reported issues or concerns are being ignored and the patch pushed to live anyway. I may be under a false impression here, but I won't risk my free time in case it's true.

If there were some kind of incentive for spending precious game time with testing instead of playing on live, I might participate.

This would be my response also (I didn't vote because I didn't see the "F*** NO" option).

Too many gaming companies rely too heavily on their paying customers to do QA for them post-beta.

I say, if you wanna cut me a check, sure - I'll spend my time chasing down your bugs instead of playing me game. Otherwise, forget it.

I use PTS to get a sneak-peak into new sets, ability changes, and other changes that I find interesting. I don't specifically seek out new content as I don't usually have others motivated enough to play on PTS with me. But I'm geeky enough to want to know what I need on my live character before the go-live date.
For those that feel like there isn't enough incentive to hop on the PTS and test some of the future content, what are some things that would motivate you to do so?

I think it would be cool if communication of bugs/feedback were a lot more visible and accessible on the PTS forums, and between dev's / players. If I feedback/bug in game AND/OR on these forums it should show up somewhere, whether that be an off comment like "we'll look at that later" or "not feasible" or even "low-prio"... but right now when you feedback/bug it just feels like your voice isn't heard. And I'd love to be more active testing on PTS but I feel like it detracts from my play time in Cyrodiil, and I enjoy clawing my way up on the leaderboards. Food for thought.

I don't have unlimited time to play. I'm behind most of my guildmates as it is, if I used the PTS I'd never get anything done on the real servers.

Besides, my ESO installation already takes 70 GB, I really don't need to bring it up to 100.

At the moment you have to basically download a second version of the game, right? If that was reduced somehow, I would try out the pts, but I don't have enough space for a second eso.

I hate seeing that people require incentives to test content. Content that they'll end up playing either way.

So, As for incentives, I would say they should be on a patch per patch basis. rewarded at the end of the patch cycle (when it goes live). You can't give away vanity pets and costumes every time as they'll begin to loose their stature and it has to be something that can't affect the economy too much.

Hours logged on the PTS = higher incentives, quality of the /bug and /feedback reports would also be part of it. They added goodies on top of the goodies.

5 hours = 1 extra Hirling mails (redeemable once)
10 hours = 2 extra Hirling Mails (redeemable once)
15 hours = Bonze Undaunted Key
20 hours = Silver Undaunted Key
24+ hours = Gold Undaunted Key + Title (title can only be earned once)

I suggested the Undaunted keys, as it is they who are brave enough to step foot into the unknown first. So I thought it'd only be fitting for them to be like Hey you're awesome here is something special.

Those who provided quality feedback and bug reports should get added fluff items, maybe like a 5% off at the Bethesda Store. I know I'd use that :D

I think alot of people like me, don't use the PTS because of our limited play time. With a job or full time school, it's hard to justify spending that time on a test server when one could be getting experiance on the game server. If there was a way to gain experiance, even 1/2 as much, or skill points, or something that could be used on our charactors in the main game, you'd see more people on the PTS.

The usual perks that are unrelated to game play - pets, dyes, costumes and titles - would all make good incentives for people to join the PTS.

Another possible option would be giving these players access to a new mount in their stables, like one of the Craglorn camels, for instance.

If ZOS wanted to infuse a lot of new players onto the PTS, then rewarding them with Nirncrux stones or items with Nirnhoned traits would almost certainly entice them.

While leveling it is hard to get into the PTS as it would take away from precious leveling time. The only incentive for me while leveling would be to experience new endgame content that would take me months to get to through normal game time.

However even that incentive is not strong enough to give up my level time for.

If possible some sort of "PTS Tester" leveling buff and/or title that would go on the players main character to help make up for time lost doing testing would certainly get a few more testers on the PST.

No idea for endgame players as I am not there yet.

I feel like if content came out even sooner than usual (as long as it is playable) on the PTS, then that would rack up more players. Because, I always hear people questioning when new content will be on PTS and it turns out only to be a couple of weeks before the actual content goes live.

Basically, playable content from the next update should be on the PTS as soon as it is ready which may require regular updates, but I don't think people will care too much about an update lasting not too long, as long as they get a flavour of the new content sooner than later.

I have logged onto the pts before, it was when you had to start fresh though...

I keep putting off going back on because I am a load of patches behind.

As for incentives, the only thing that would make me go to test the new stuff is if the progress was shared, so if I rank up on pts I rank up on normal etc, I know this is too much to ask though..

But my play time is just too valuable.

A form of Enlightment XP buff would be a interesting idea. For every hour logged on the PTS you'd receive a 5% XP buff for an hour on your main or something along those lines. I like that idea. Wouldn't be too hard to implement, but it would take a bunch of resources for tracking.

The PTS includes max level VR14 character templates with 150 or so skill points to burn on skills that automatically max out when you burn the points. You also receive 5,000,000 gold along with chests filled with max level legendary gear. You simply load the template, access your gear and skills and then head off anywhere in the world, playing whatever content you wish, even endgame content. You may also start a new character in the prison, if you wish.

First and foremost, do not push stuff live unless it has been tested, and make sure to listen to bug reports that are filed during testing.

And as said above, consider giving unpaid PTS volunteers something that has an impact on the live game. Something small and largely inconsequential, but shiny and fun, like a bug for a pet, a title "Bug Hunter", a bonus emote or a trophy to perform a bug stomping animation, or something like that. And if it is an item of some sort, please make it a quest item so it doesn't take up an inventory slot. We are already short on those.

Relating to "incentives": I'd like to see bugs that we report on PTS actually get addressed before going live. Perhaps this is just me, but I feel as if I'm doing the job of ZOS QA, having to PAY to do so, and then being ignored as reported bugs get repeatedly ignored and then pushed into production/live.

Stated differently, what's the point of "testing" on PTS when so few of the bugs that get reported actually get addressed in any meaningful way prior to "going live"?
