Best/quickest way to progress through Veteran Ranks

Hey guys,

I'm at VR 2 and about 30% into it on my first character. What is everyone's opinion on the best/quickest way to progress through the VRs? Questing seems to be the obvious choice, but I'm wondering if there are other avenues that are particular effective like a certain dungeon, Cyrodiil quest, or PvE grind.

Thanks.

Craglorn grind groups, the best is 37k exp per 10 second. (but that is getting nerfed.)

But still, grind groups is the fastest, but the quests are the more fun way. Unless its your second toon you are leveling, then you will have quest burn out by now.

This is my first toon so I'm still fine with doing the quests. I haven't gone to Craiglron yet though... What's the lowest level that you can make it in there?

You can zone there at V1 and you still see lots of grind groups.

Lots of players are going there at V1, leveling to V14 and then going back and doing the normal quests (or saving them for when champion system is released)

You will level fast in a Craiglorn grind group, but you will get boried

The best way is to complete each zone as you did levels 1-50. You will get all the skyshards, loads of skillpoints, lots of gold, and lots of raw mats. It takes roughly 10-12 hours to complete each zone.

The quickest way is Craglorn grinding. You will get from VR1 to VR14 in 20 hours maximum if you do the best grinds (Upper Craglorn grind or Shadow). You will be super gimped on skillpoints and you won't have any gold. But, hey, at least you can get to VR14 in two days.

Nice thing if you do the Main Quests in each Zone (basically the ones that reward a skill point and any directly related to them) you will get about 80% of the exp needed for a VR level for that zone. You want to gain one VR level per zone to stay leveled with the mobs. However, that is the way that it is designed, you should be at VR10 or close to it once you finish the 5th zone (10th VR Zone overall) in Caldwells Gold.

Then fill in some grinding in a Public Dungeon or the Zombie Road or Craglorn and you can take care of the rest.

Currently I am completing the zones (for the most part) on my VR characters and gaining the VR Level per zone, sometimes even 10% to 20% into the next rank when I am finished with each zone. I can't see how that is much slower than grinding out the levels would be. However I have not been to Craglorn and I think you get a lot more exp in that zone from the mobs.

Once your a VR Rank, go to the Faction Capital and look for a guy and a cart. He can take you there. Now, will you survive at VR1 to VR3? Not sure on that myself.

    Quickest is craglorn boss grinding.
But I suggest doing the quests in vr zones for a few reasons
    -it doesn't take much longer
    -it isn't mind numbingly boring
-it offers skill points from quests (plus it's easier to get skyshards, and you unlock the last 5 zones after cadwell's silver for more skyshards)

And last but not least, when you turn in the more than 300 quests you can level and max out many skill lines by putting them in your bar when you get the quest money and xp

I still discover fun and handy morphs , even today , like the lava whip that has a morph thay heals for 350 as well, awesome! I would have never known if i was just grinding

When leveling in craglorn you miss out because you only have the 5 abilties slotted that are probably allready at rank 4 and maxed out

I did 9 hours straight of grinding Craglorn to go from V12 - V14, it was very brutal. Whatever way you choose to level, good luck :D

Can you clarify please? Just want to be sure there's not something I'm missing here...

I think you're saying that when you're doing quests out in the open world, you're free to play around with more abilities and level them up rather than always using your best build, right? Or do you mean there's some sort of built in advantage of questing (or hitting the 300 quest mark) that improves how fast your abilities level up?

I mean that for example hircine's grind would be done with one bar active as you gain massive amounts of xp. Only the 5 abilities on that bar raise in level as you gain xp. Because most people use good skills to dps or heal, and inner light, that leaves two slots free to put a skill in to level from 1 to 4, then morph it, and then level the morph to 4

It all goes very quicky so you might not even have time to put the skillpoint into the morph or swap skills into your bar

On the other hand, when i finish a quest (and the questgiver gives you gold),
I swap out all the skills on my second bar for skills that i hardly ever use,
Like the lava whip, the damage shields, the volcanice rune etc. they level not by using them, but when you gain xp.

And you gain xp when you turn a quest in, so that is why they have to be on your active bar.

I am not saying this is the best way, but it has the advantage of unlocking many skills
If you choose to grind to vr14 in a few days and then decide you need some skills, i read most people have to go to the zombie road to grind those for xp
I dont know if you have been there, but it is not the most attractive or happy place in tamriel.

    Hope this helps,
