Having trouble using Racial Style books. (Barbaric and Primal)

I am only level 10 and pretty new to the game, Ive had these two Racial style books for a while and unable to use them.

Ive used Books 1 - 10 (Including Imperial) with no problems.

When I try and use the books, Im told I need wood, metal or tailoring to skill level 6 or 7.

asked in game and was told to get all three to level 7 and it should work. It hasnt.

Im now 7 tailoring, 7 wood, and 8 blacksmithing and I still cant use the style books.

This is my main character and my crafter (I enjoy crafting and merchant playstyle) and Id really like to use these books, any hints?

It's a little confusing. What it really means is that you have to put skill points in to 6 or 7 in a professions materials.

The first question I have is how did you get these at L10? They don't drop until the VR Levels, and they cost 35,000 and 40,000 gold in Guild Stores. Do you have a guardian angel that is feeding you excessive amounts of gold in the game?

It's not the Crafting Levels, but the Material Levels that you need to get to 6 or 7 or 8. Which means you need to level Crafting into the 30's to get that material level. Material Level is the first passive.

I've been very very lucky, and I do a lot of buying and selling in Zone. I am the consummate Merchant type, Ive been playing about 2 weeks now and Im only level 10, buying/selling crafting and merchanting is how I enjoy the game, I like taking it slow.

Ive also sold a couple Bristlegut Pigs I have laying around for gold.

That makes sense, with the skill points, yea I wasnt looking at those points but at the skill level points, certainly confusing.

and... I just picked up a Daedric style book for 45k! *does a happy dance*

I agree with the other posters it is the skill points put into the materials skill line that determines when you can use the purple motifs. So you will need to level up your crafting skill a bit more and have some spare skill points to use to be able to use those motifs. FYI you only need one craft to be high enough to be able to use the motif so you don't need to level all three to be able to use the motif.

You have been playing for 2 weeks and you have made at least 120k gold from trading and leveling to level 10? Wow, that is some committed trading, you must be on non-stop and farming mats like crazy to pick up enough things to trade to make that much gold.

for primal and barbaric you need to have about 6or 7/9 in the material usage perk in whatever craft you are using.

ancient elf is 8/9, daedric is 9/9. everything else is whenever
