OLD SCHOOL PVP IN BRAND NEW GAME

Dear Developers.

Have you not learned that gear based veteran pvp campeigns do not work.

The non veteran campeign is also idiotic.

It is quite obvious that this is your first mmorpg.

1) Players need to see the title of who they are killing. Otherwise, nameless killing destroys the ability for rivals.

2) You need to do what warhammer online did: Break up pvp into levels.

For example, level 10 -20, 20-30, 30-40, 40-50 and veteran 1, veteran 2, veteran 3 etc...Then Raise alll players level to a minimum of 3/4 eg 10-20 = level 7 minimum level.

3) Players have called this game the running simulator, because you spend 90% of your time running & 10 percent of your time fighting. This needs to be fixed by creating a range res system.

4) Players die to quickly. When caught off guard you have litteraly 5 seconds to survive, especialy when fighting someone at v14 when you are level 10.

5) There is no instanced pvp...really...are you joking... In a modern day mmorpg??? Add veteran instanced pvp with the same laws as point 2.

6) Stamina on mounts are terrible... I often get killed before being able to dismount from my horse. This is because of the delay & the ability to stun a horse.
I suggest that you remove stamina completely.

7) PVP grouping = zerg fest... Make the maximum size of a group 6 players... This will allow for groups to break up into schirmishing groups... Again, this was done brilliantly in warhammer online by giving smaller groups huge rewards for schirmish combat.

8) It is often impossible to outrun players when on a horse because it is so easy for them to either range you down or sneak up on you via invisibility etc... This is madness... Furthermore a horse on trot runs at at practicaly the same speed as a player on foot...really?

9) I am tired off my horse being slowed down to crawlng speed because I ran over a pebble... This system causes nothing but frustration.

10) Stop doing old fashioned things in pvp...

PS: Your game has some of the most spectacular pve that I have ever played in any mmorpg... I have loved the story and the diversity of the dungeons etc.

However, I am a pvp player... And I have now done enough pve.

    i disagree with every single thing you have said here. with the new champion system being ready to set a standard we will see new outcomes and new pvp experiances that do not need any touch of what you are talking about that you wish to see implimented.

    Pretty much disagree with everything in the original post. Except for Max group size. Six people is too few, perhaps limited to 12 people instead.

    Hmmm..not seeing much I agree with here.
    Force weapon swap to have priority over EVERYTHING. Close enough.
    Make stamina builds even with magicka builds.
    Disable abilities while holding block.
    Give us a REASON to do dungeons more than once.
    Remove PVP AoE CAP. It is ruining Cyrodiil.
    Fix/Remove Forward Camps. They are ruining Cyrodiil.
    Impenetrability needs to REDUCE CRIT DAMAGE. Not negate entire builds.
    Werewolf is not equal to Vamps/Bats.

    From the sound of your post and the many references you seem to want this game to turn in to Warhammer. No thanks on anything except a longer range on rez.

    neither for or against, as each point can or cannot have merit depending on factors he does not even seem to take into account. Though in his defense, he is not the only one that skipped said phase..but anyway :)

    i do have to agree on a general principle however, as a DAoC style PvP (with Darkness Falls to boot,hint at the originality of the concept..not..) is indeed best fit to a different type of an MMO. Yeah, sure it can be made to work here too, it already has. But both the PvPers and the PvErs miss other things because of it :)

    either way, i'd advise the OP to have a look at Matt Firor's resume, i find it really amusing how both the system he decries and the system he craves for are a trademark of the same company, co-run by the very same person. Our very own ^^

    I don't have a horse with significant amounts of stamina yet. Is the OP stating that horse stamina fails to prevent knockdown or stun?

    2. No, you have a non veteran campaign you can go to.
    3. If anything, they need to remove forward camps as you can pretty much port everywhere already. If ya don't wanna actually play in a massive scale pvp game..go play something else.

    Lets see Title says Old school PVP,
    It seems your preference for reference is Warhammer, Hows about taking it back a few more years.

    DAOC max group size was 8 ( it wasnt until later years they added Battlegroups)
    it worked well plenty of group on group action as well as more communication across realm chat.

    TBH if they could do it with the coming release of Imperial city i would love 1 Campaign that everyone could join. Daoc server max was 3k, at any given time half of that number if not more was in RvR.( there was a thing called realm pride back then) and changing realms cost you time.This cross faction guilding is IMHO one thing that has to go its to easy for spying.

    Daoc had Battlegrounds for up and coming levels the two most popular were Thidranki (level 24 cap if memory serves) and Molvik (level 39 cap) these were great for learning and trying out new things some people even made these their homes for PVP away from the RVR.

    Porting to keeps is fine if Forward camps are your bug then add a summons spell with a cooldown and make it a class specific spell as not to have 50 people summon 50 others.

    I've previously stated they should remove the break free (stamina usage) in lieu of a purge type ability on a timer this gives CC more control and use in a game where CC is basically non-existant, Healers should also have targetted heals if possible.

    Im not saying your right or wrong on your list but DAOC did it right for years before they released that abomonation of Warhammer ( which i played for a while).

    Truth be told im kind of surprised that some Ex-Daoc creators let this much BS through to an actual game and also that they dont fix whats needed to be fixed sooner.

    Just my thought on the matter.

    if you are tired of getting stunned and dismounted while on a horse then either:
    increase your horses stamina

    don't use a horse:D iv run on foot to many battles, t took an additional 50 seconds maybe.

    Instanced pvp (not saying this is necessarily a bad thing - bad on Trammelites for starting this thinking though)

    How the hell can you consider instanced pvp modern?

    Lets face it, many of the oldschool games did a lot of stuff right, some are easy to explain like class variety and pvp systems and some of them are very hard to explain, such as realm pride in DAoC.
    Those little things made those games amazing though.


    I know i'm going off-topic here but just imagine a game where your whole faction felt like a large community. Where guilds joined large alliances and cooperated to attack the enemy or defend their realm.

    A game where you learned and respected/feared your enemys names and colors even though you never ever spoke to them. Where the "elitist" groups cooperated with and protected the larger zergs from other gank groups so that they could achieve their common goal, to capture relics (scrolls) or to capture and hold the pvp dungeon (Darkness Falls, soon Imperial City).

    Many may not realize it but that's how competative 8v8 got started in daoc.

    It may sound like a rose tinted nostalgic fairy tale but that's really how it was back in 02-04 ish DAoC and to some extent on the "classic" servers that opened in 06 or so.

    Sorry my friend, but that's not going to happen. You have too many people like Lowbei who hate their faction and do everything to tear it down and help the enemy. They claim that they are old school pvprs and played daoc,but their attitude and behavior demonstrate that they never played daoc.
