Target lock is silly.

If I lock onto a target using tab I can see where ever they go even if I cannot see them. Such a huge advantage for those who use it. Personally I'd like it taken out, if you can't see them, then you don't know where they're going or where they are. Crazy huh?

Another logic fail, much like the stealth contradiction when you know someone you can't see has seen you.

Need to stop with the hand holding, and let people look for themselves rather than the Eye or Target lock telling you stuff. It's a visual game, look for yourself.

Yep, target lock follows hidden peeps, and that's just stupid. Should have been addressed by devs long ago. But hey, I've already cancelled my sub over a lot of their other stupid moves.

Don't get me wrong: the game is good, but the execution of it is....well, turning into an execution of it.

I'd rather everyone know about, then it's a level playing field.

It stops trackng if they properly stealth or move far enough away. I can see the logic behind not wanting this for immersion, but we are playing an mmo. People use addons for floating numbers all over their screens that tell them all kinds of stats they wouldn't normally know.

I haven't purposefully tested this - does it track enemies when they activate something like NB invisibility?

The only problem I have ever had with it is the fact that targeting someone/something doesn't even direct your attacks AT that target. They still only hit the NPC/Player your reticule is hovering over (highlighting that person/NPC red). I call that a tracker, not a targeting system

I always find that even why I target lock a boss in a raid or dungeon I still lose my target in a matter of seconds because it doesn't properly lock on it. I am not a PVP player so I don't know about the advantages using it there.

    No it doesn't!
I think locking is necessary because u get confused very very fast in the huge battles... u cant focus anyone done not using it, especially sorcerers when they start blinking all over the place.

Wall making the lock go away wouldn't be too bad but i dont have a problem with it... u can just wait a bit and the lock disappears anyway and can't be relocked without line of sight.

Totally agree with OP. Tab target lock is an offensive advantage as you can keep track of your target even if theoretically it's hidden behind a rock, wall or whatever other object. Unless you go stealth or at a considerable distance it won't cancel. I always use tab target and I think its an advantage factor in a fight but tbh nothing game breaking.

Oh yeah let's bring Counter Strike aimbot to ESO.

I agree. It doesn't show when the person is fully in stealth and I don't see any issues with being able to target people who are in massive crowds.

Target lock should be attached to LOS, once you lose LOS then you lose target lock. Or more plainly, if you can't put yourself out there to be a target, then you can't target either. Using TAB to switch targets is player choice, point and click works a lot better IMO. There has to be something in game to allow a key press to switch targets, so that PVE is workable.

Don't know why this game wouldn't have that, at least in PVP anyway, being able to track movement without having to have a visual seems like a huge cheat.

If you CHOOSE not to use a feature that would give you the same "huge advantage" .. not sure where the problem lies, to be honest.

I'd delight if that was the case. I experience quite the opposite.

I'd much rather my target be what I'm looking at. Would be much more useful when an enemy is closing the gap vs the one that's still 50m away.

I think it's partially dependent on which skill/attack you are using, too. Line of sight is more intuitive and allows combat to be more responsive.

Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

Targeting is nice to have, yes. How often did I kill a little snake, because it was just there. But Having it tracking peoples movement, even though they are out of sight is not the way it should work.
