ICE WRAITH...REALLY? Anyone else feel this way?

Thanks for the Ice Wraith. It's what I always wanted. No no no, really. It's keen. I feel so appreciated being able to pull this floaty monster out of my _ _ _ whenever I feel like it.

Couldn't you think of ANYTHING ELSE to give people? A dog maybe? Good Grief! Ice Wraiths everywhere.

Want us to feel appreciated? Give us a couple bumps in inventory. How about a voucher for the horse of your choice? That would be real....Ice Wraith gets killed and thrown in the garbage as the inventory sink it's part of. Thanks.

I know it's a rant but so what. This floated a bone with me.

It is really quite simple. If you don't want it delete it. They don't have to give us anything.

The company is trying to say Thank You. If you don't appreciate it, that is fine but there are many out there who will.

I love my ice wraith. If they gave dogs there would be dogs everywhere. I want a pig and would buy one from the cash shop as long as I could buy just the item code and not some stupid overpriced stuffed animal made in a chinese sweatshop.

There is around 0% chance that they can deliver a pet that everyone wants/find cool.

You have to have 90 days of paid play time before September 17th. It will also be several days before every one gets one.

LOL- I have to join in and laugh at myself here. I know it's petty. Just had to let it out.

Still. I'm not a big fan MMO pets, but I understand folks like them. I'm seeing them all over the (bleeping) place. Just would kind of like it if I could toggle them off visually, especially those that make no sense to me from an immersion standpoint. AND as nice as they are...cough...there are better ways IMO to show appreciation to the community.

Probably not. The pet will come attached to a mail message, but the system rolls out these mails rather slowly, so it can take a couple days before every eligible player gets theirs.

Seriously though, ok it's not the best reward in the world BUT at least it's something.
I like the idea of an inventory increase as a reward. If you think about it, that's actually a good reward as it's almost inevitable that longer term players would have accumulated more 'stuff' and therefore would need more inventory space !

Even though we are getting it for free, I think ZOS can do a lot better in terms of rewarding their subscribers. Take a look at how SWTOR does it. 500 cartel coins for the shop every month and your inbox is regularly filled with nice things. It's not that hard to do.

Agreed. If you look at todays MMO market and the ever increasing pull on our hard earned cash from many directions you would think Zenimax would offer a bigger carrot to their stick in order to keep those of us who are still loyal to ESO !

They are an irritation, and a toggle to hide them would be very welcome. However, players who enjoy this sort of thing are desirable if the developers ever decide to implement a full-on cash shop. So it makes sense for developers to court such players now. I think that if the game eventually goes that way (F2P with cosmetic cash-shop) the developers should consider the additional opportunity to generate income from selling the option to disable vanity pets.

I have no problem with my Ice Wraith pet per se.

Other than.. it's a pretty easy gift. A floating creature? No animation issues to consider when scaling and assigning to a character! A carbon-copy of an existing game model? No modelling time required!

I'm some people appreciate the gift. Personally it feels like someone giving the bare minimum. Sure we could argue they didn't have to give anything at all but... really? They want to be seen as generous, to reward loyalty - a little extra modelling time and some animations would be appreciated.

What does confuse me is.. how is it made a pet? I don't really go for lore so I'm at a loss. I've always seen Ice Wraiths as horribly viscous elemental skeleton snake monsters...

..magic enslavement spell? Or perhaps rescued a baby one from hungry Imps?

The Secret World rewards are usually pets or clothing. I would prefer exclusive clothing/costumes/weapon and armor FX.

Still, I think it is cool that they are giving us anything at all. I already feel that my subscription is well spent money for the value.

For the naysayers out there, sure ZoS doesn't HAVE to give us anything. But when they DO it MIGHT BE NICE if it would be something we've actually expressed a wish for. There have been polls regarding desired pets here on the forums. I don't remember an Ice Wraith even getting a mention on any of them.

And why pets anyway? Why NOT some extra bag space? A ring of Mara? A neat costume? Maybe even an emote? I can't even say "Nice try ZoS" because whoever the "genius" was who came up with this... needs to be followed by an Ice Wraith forever. At the very least.

I'd much prefer a unique costume. Pets just get in the way, they're never really used, where as something like that skeleton quest costume you still see a lot of people use.

Personally I tried it out, and left it on my banking alt, it's alright, but I don't do vanity pets.

But it's nice to get something.

Well its been at least a month or so since they fixed collision on pets (completely) so even though I don't have any plans to use it if other people use its not a problem. It looks cool maybe the best of the bunch - although I really like the pig. My only objection is there is no separate tab in the bank so it doesn't take up a slot.

Having received the Ice Wraith can honestly say chances of me using it are slim. If ZoS wants to reward long term subscribers how about something useful such as Skill Points I'd always accept them happily I do love the game even with the problems that have a tendency to occur.
Of course I'd have been happier if the pet was a cat cats always good.
