What exactly happens after Level 50?

I have not gone beyond a Level 46 character because I hate Coldharbour and I am a little nervous of fighting Molag Bahl after reading about the stress involved. (I play the game to relax and have fun )Coldharbour is bleak and I seem to be the only one playing in there.
Anyway I just make a new alt and level up because from what I have read you just level up more in the same areas again after Level 50. What are the advantages of being over Level 50 in the veteran ranks. How is it different? :)

You go through the other 2 factions and level up pretty much do as you have been. And then do Craglorn which is where grouping finally comes into play. Also there is PVP

Start an "alt". My VR14 sorcerer is very boring and I keep it only because it has all craftings (except blacksmithing) maxed. I started a NB and I adore it. It's currently level 41 and is my "main". I use my sorc to make stuff for my NB now.

Unfortunately, after lv 50 you just go to the other faction areas and run through all the quests in them. You are pretty much forced to do every single quest, dolmen, dungeon, and world boss if you want to keep your level matched to the area you are in.

I had planned 3 characters, one in each faction. I wanted to experience the content with a different character each faction. Not happening if I want a max level character.

One thing that was different is skill points came more easily and quickly. You will be able to develop a larger array of skills, morphing and maxing them; or develop your crafting skills without feeling the strain of deciding between fighting and crafting skills.

Your power in PVP will grow as you progress. Despite ZOs attempt to boost low level power, higher level characters still have significant advantages.

So there are some things different, but if you thought your questing days were done, they are not unless you can stand grinding or enjoy PVP as your main focus.

The Molag Bal fight is really fun. You are missing out.

I loved coldharbour personally. The Daedra have an awesome sense of humor, and it was my first encounter with Stibbons.

OP there are a few threads about the fight with Molag Bal that have pointers on how to beat him.
He is a *** cat and you can use pretty much the same mechanics as you did with Manni you don't even have to worry about interrupting Molag you just have to avoid the red zones. He has a few pets but you block their attacks it kills them with one/two shot/s. If you do all of the quests before facing Molag you get a lot of friends as well that help you clear the area to get to the Molag fight.

Imo it was an easier fight than Manni, I would recommend clearing Coldharbour (I wasn't a huge fan of the bleakness either) do the fight with Molag and then move to the next Alliance.

Fight your altoholism (I suffer from it as well) and do the fight with Molag. Good fun and it is satisfying beating a Daedric Prince. :)

I thought the Harvester in the main quest line was harder than Molag Bol, I hated fighting her and I had to return when I was 10 levels higher to insure I would kill her.

Well, leveling up is important to being able to explore all the pretty new zones they come out with in the future.

Wouldn't be very fun if everything in the zone looked at you and you instantly exploded into a pink mist, now would it?

Plus I kinda like being able to have the 1 character explore ALL of Tamriel. I wish I could see and interact with other faction players OUTSIDE of Cyrodiil but that's just me personally.

Actually, you don't have to do all the quests to remain level with the area, get someone in your group so you can portal to them and do grind groups in craglorn, with people getting from Vr 12 to Vr 14 now they are always going. You can be VR 1 to start it won't be easy but in a full group it won't matter. You won't receive the benefits you would get from questing though, skill points from quests, sky shards, trophies. And you have to do the main skill line in each faction, which is called Cadwells Silver, its says what you need in his Almanac then Cadwell Gold is the next faction and its main quests. OR like I said you could grind in Craglorn get good items, and level in half the time time.

I agree with Curragraigue that you should clear all the quests in Coldharbor first and do the Molag Bal fight last. I believe the developers nerf the fight so it isn't as tough as it used to be.

I actually thought the fight to get to him was a lot tougher then the final battle.

And if you die, you die, so what! The great thing about games is that you can just trying until you get it right.

Well it used to be interesting and challenging untill people moaned and then it went to pretty much oneshot mobs like 1-50. So expect it to be as interesting as 1-50

About the Molag Bal fight. Your going to have to do it if you want to advance through the game. I just did it last night on my sorcerer. I did it once before on my DK. A lot of people say it was easy for them. I did not experience easy fights - maybe im just not as good of a player as they are. I died like 5 or 6 times with my sorcerer last night and couldn't tell you how many times I died with my DK as it was the first time and I tried different things and eventually I killed him using a dagger and shield.
    - Here are some tips: You have to keep moving and kiting him, get out of the red circle when he jumps and continually hit him with damage at the same time.
    - When the titan creatures come out - this is the easiest part - just hold block on the big blue fire balls they fire at you and they will reflect back and kill them. This only happens once.
    - Eat health enhancing food before the fight and be ready with health pots - but this alone will not save you - you have to use some type of self healing skill in your skill bar to use.
So the hardest part of the fight is all the moving and hitting at the same time - that's whats hard. For me anyway.

But once you get it done, you wont have to do it again (unless you build a new character) and then you will have two full alliances to explore to relax and have fun in.

I hear you on Coldharbour. And I like blue!

What helped me was that I had decided to make an alt some time before to split the crafting, and she is about 3 zones behind my main. So I'd play a bit of Coldharbour, and then switch to my main if I got tired of all the blue.

Another thing that happens in Coldharbour that many players are not prepared for is that it's much more open ended than the rest of the game. In the normal zones, you'd finish the first part of the zone's main quest and someone would send you to the next bit and so on. In Coldharbour, you have to find your own way to a great extent, with just some general hints for some things.

And all the side quests will influence how you do in the final battle, so it's a good idea to clear the map (or at least the area you have access to) before you continue.

You will be happy when it's over. :-)

Then it's up to you what you want to do. I'm actually quite enjoying the vet zones. There is also Craglorn as well as both PvP and PvE in Cyrodiil.

I appear to be an outlier. Always wanted to use that word. ;)

I think the game starts at VR1. Been really having a pile of fun getting to VR7, and I am just starting to really realize the potential of the char I built.

Coldharbor is pure joy, a wonderful place.

They have or felt like it when I got to that fight a second time. Sad actually, I like that fight was hard.

Molag Bal is quite hard to kill, until you know how, then it is quite easy and not that stressful. It just takes time. If you follow the advice given in this thread (we talk about different builds so it all applies) then you can take him down

    http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/132488/noob-vs-molag-bal-hes-down/p1

Even if you don't do the VR Caldwells Silver and Gold, it is good to have a character in the VR Instance. For one thing, you can make a ton of gold to feed your alts, as gold comes in abundance at VR Ranks. Also, deconstructing VR gear gives much bigger boosts to crafting skills when leveling a character, etc etc.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

TBH many people are overreacting about Molag Bal and the Vet-levels. For me, the Game has really started once i reached vet-level and had to think about my character's skills once Molag Bal killed me 10 times. After that i got better and better and now my Sorcerer is a pvp-leutenant and has beaten the mage and the warrior. You're missing out :)
