Character name changes

I'm wondering if it's possible to change characters names yet, or if it will be in the near future?

There's a silly hyphen in my name that (for whatever reason) some people miss and can't whisper me on occasion. It also looks rubbish.

If it's not, could you let me know if / when it will be available?

It's not currently possible and I don't recall them ever mentioning it might be in the future.

That being said, if they ever add it I hope it'll cost real money. A lot of it.

Have you tried asking a GM directly? I know they can change account and guild names, I don't imagine character names are a huge leap.

I happily paid $25 for it when I used to play WoW, that's a reasonable price.

It's possible, there's had to have been people that were forced to change their names by GM's on account of them being vulgar. Since there's absolutely no naming restrictions within the character creator.

TBH I think changing a character name is significantly different from a forum name, considering the fact that doing so would mean someone being able to escape from their past without repercussions.

Games that allow this suffer from this problem I find.

In any case, the forum CMs aren't in-game GMs and the CMs often make a point of saying they don't have the ability to change in-game characters.

I spoke to a bloke in zone who had his name changed, so it's confirmed for possible. I just want mine changed because stupid hyphen.


I see your point about people escaping their past, but rude-heads will always be rude-heads, and you'll work out they're rude-heads pretty quickly once again. That, and @ignore lists means that they couldn't contact you regardless, as the account is barred..

Thankfully, I'm not a rude-head (as far as I know), I just chose my name poorly when I created it, thinking that I would hate DK's, and that my other half wouldn't play more than a month anyways.

We're both VR14 now.

My partner and I had a name problem because we have a french keyboard and we named our characters with some accent.
BUT.. in Cyrodiil it cause a lot of problem to get invite for group.
So we contacted HELP service.
We received help in less than 24h, and our characters names have been changed in the game by a very nice GM.

But seriously, name changes would be fantastic for those who want it.

Any arguments against name changes can be dismissed easily. It's no different than had the player in question just made a new character, albeit that takes more effort. In the case of paid name changes, it takes money.
