It's much faster not to waste time farming them, is quicker to farm gold and just buy them.....

I never concern myself with any percentage under 100% in games. No sample size will ever give a true reflection. Take something as simple as a coin toss. Each side has the same odds of flipping, however, as we all know, it still means I could flip said coin 1000 times and get heads each and every time. Doesn't mean there's any bias towards it landing on heads over tails if all things are equal. Just means anything under 100% is down to chance no matter how skewed you think things are.

a lot of them are on my enchanting character for writs as Im to lazy to run to the bank lol but I farm everything even the mushrooms to use them later to level alchemy on an alt

To follow up on that, I often find I am making as much gold on the materials I farm while trying to get nirncrux. All of the ore, wood, and void bloom, plus all of the other stuff I pick up along the way, is generally worth at least one nirncrux. This depends on the RNG, of course.

Given the popularity of the area where nirncrux can be farmed, I am actually making more gold from the same time investment by not farming nirncrux.

I'll let you into a little secret too... I never said that came of regents - but as a master alchemist that is always stockpiling, why would I walk past that bit of dragonthorn on the ground next to the void bloom?? Especially since I'm after worms for fishing to get the perfect roe!! dang!

You can harvest 4 and get 4, or harvest 4 and get nothing. What surprise me is the inability of people to understand this. Not because you harvest 4,000 nodes, you are going to get 400 stones....each attempt is .25% for EACH node, independent of any other node or harvest you have done previously.

And this is why I would rather have an accumulator than RNG.
0.25% could be 100/100 or 0/100 and anywhere in between.
Its just more likely to be 0.25/100

Some people expect a 12% chance to mean 12/100 with every sample without fail.
If you got 20/100 you didn't have a 12% chance you had a 20% chance (historically)
If you got 1/100 you didn't have a 12% chance you had a 1% chance (historically)

I hope you can see the divide between what people expect and what people actually get using RNG.
Is that 12% based on 100 players meaning, 1 could have 1200 and 99 have 0 ?
Because the players aren't interested in shared pot percentages.
They are only interested in their personal percentage.

Basically RNG has no bearing on overall likelihood...only current likelihood.
It has no concept of history.
It doesn't meet the needs or expectations of the playerbase.
It is merely a number plucked out the air.

Ponders a PID controller.....where a players bad luck can be compensated for.
But why go to that extreme.
Juts say its a 0.25% drop rate and use an accumulator.
Works "exactly" as intended and works "exactly" as expected.. without fail.. for everyone.. fairly.

Yea, there is probably an issue with the drop rate OP.

Sorry that people around here have been so argumentative with you. One would think that it is time to side with the players after seeing ZOS make mistake after mistake, but for some reason, in this day of age, consumer friendliness isn't allowed to exist. The consumer is never given the benefit of the doubt anymore and that is why certain parts of ESO will never get better.

They actually DO drop from reagent nodes. People tend to believe that's not true and therefore ignore that nodes. Good for me Don't know for rune nodes, though.

can anyone confirm that Nirncrux can come from alchemy or enchanting nodes? I know they can come from alchemy surveys- I got my first one that way- but can they come from regular nodes too? Or is it just the gear crafting nodes like ore, wood or cloth? Anyone that can confirm this either way would be appreciated. bonus points for video proof! Lol

Nirncrux is from ore, wood or cloth. Supposedly it can drop from welwas, which would be a cloth source, but I have killed hundreds and never had one drop (which doesn't mean it isn't true, could be my RNG). I've seen posts where someone claimed to get nirncrux from plants and runes, only to later explain a loot add-on caused confusion about the nirn source. Do not believe it can come from plants or runes until someone posts an image with nirncrux in the same container as the plant or rune. It has been confirmed that heavy sacks do rarely drop nirn. As for nirncrux drop rates, I've been farming it since it was released, and the drop rate has been pretty much consistent. I've gone days without getting any, and once got 3 in an hour. There is no getting around RNG.

I farm upper craglorn a lot. I have a set route and know just about every nodes exact location. I farmed for three days solid in the beginning around 12-16 hours total and got none. Then on day four, I got 3 within 5 minutes.m ever since then, I get at least 5 a day if not more. Hell I've even gotten 2 out of the same bode multiple times. I've gotten and patent and reinforced out of the same node. The drop rate is fine.

I fairly recently started to do one to 3 runs through upper crag each day when I first log on.

Sometimes I find zero, often I find 1, fairly often I find 2 or 3, I have found 4.

Bearing in mind that each day I'm not ending up with 200 ore in my inv, not 200 cloth in my inv and not getting near 100 wood, the drop rate isn't that bad.

A few times I've found one on the first node I try after logging in.

Currently I have 31 fortified and 13 potent plus I have given a fair few to guild mates.

I have gone 3 days in a row each time spending 1 hr farming and got zero, that's the way random numbers work and it seems fine to me.

If each node has a .25 chance of dropping one. That doesn't mean that every 400 you are guaranteed 1, you could be unlucky and farm 100000 nodes and find none, each node you farm you have a 99.75 chance of not getting one, whereas someone else could farm 5 nodes and be lucky enough to get one each time.

Yeah drop rates are all over the place. One of my friends got 3 tonight in less than 20 minutes. I think drop rates in all games are all over the place. Nothing is ever precise and matter of fact. They can say .25% chance but we all know from playing any other games, drop rates are only approximate and always will be. Just play, enjoy the game, don't be greedy, make friends, explore and be happy with what you got.

Remember that nirncrux is now also dropping from survey map sites (wood/ore/cloth) nodes in LOWER craglorn, and a lot of people are doing more crafting writs than usual to try get the Glass Motif fragments. Also, the one harvester Champion Point passive that can double your amount of mats harvested - now applies to any bonus nirncrux found. This means that there is a 10% boost to the rate of nirncrux being found, and a temporary short term increase in the amount of nirncrux being found in survey sites - which have a higher drop rate than the general nodes in Upper Crag.

My personal experience is that I have been getting 2-4 crux per day recently, where I was previously getting 1 crux or less per farming expedition. But that's because I have been doing a LOT of writs (on 3-4 alts). I'm almost out of the mats though, so it will slow down a lot soon.

Well, put this way, I've never seen it happen. It's possible that it can occur, but I've harvested a lot of reagents and runes from upper craglorn, and never observed this behavior. So... it's possible, but I'm a little suspicious.

I don't have the video so you wont believe me but my first RNG Nirn was from an alchemy survey. However, I was told the surveys are different from regular nodes since you can get Nirn from surveys even in Lower Craglorn, not just Upper. It was in a Lush Bugloss. On a side note my clan leader, who is the luckiest guy on the planet, got a double Nirncrux drop from a clothing survey last night. 6 raw voidbloom and 2 POTENT Nirncrux....yeah, not just a crux but the harder to fond of the two also! Lol He did send a screenshot but I am not sure how to get that to come up on this computer at work. Same guy got 11 Perfect Roe in under 4 hours a couple days ago!

I can confirm it also drops from jewelry nodes (platinum ore) and that you can get 2 from a single node if you have the Plentiful Harvest champion trait (The Lover) which grants you a 10% chance to double the harvest from normal resource nodes.

if you got one in a writ nood then youd get one in an normal nood as writ noods cant drop things normal noods dont

In the beginning, ZOS created ESO and the forums.

Immediately afterwards, this thread was created.

At that time, there were no jewelry nodes in the game, so of course this wasn't mentioned.

Incidentally, there were also no necromancers in the game. So while I understand the urge to roleplay your necromancer on the forums as well, it's probably not the best idea. It's seen as a CRIMINAL ACT resulting in getting the thread closed.
