Thoughts on Character building, stats and itemization.

I made a similar post elsewhere, but I thought that good discussion can occur here as well.

So, one of my major complains about the general direction the game seems to be taking is the fact that you are more or less forced to either specialize in Stamina or Magicka as your effective pool, not only in primary Attributes, but secondary stats as well.
In my opinion, this is holding character building back, and forces you down a very specified path.
I also believe that this is one of the main reasons stamina builds are much worse at the moment, you sacrifice too much for too little. The majority of skills each character can access in the game are magicka based.

What I think should be done, and should have been like that from the start is something simple.
There is no more Weapon Damage, Spell Crit, Weapon Crit , Spell damage, Armor Penetration or Spell penetration.
Instead there is Power, Crit and Penetration.
Every ability, be it magicka or stamina based, scales off of these, and Stamina or Magicka respectively.

This way, skills still scale with your overall magicka or stamina, but you don’t have to also spread secondary stats. Sure some sets will need to be tweaked, but overall, I think this will clear a lot of confusion about what scales with what, along with opening the way to much more interesting and versatile builds.
