Hi,

with Surprise attack from stealth i do normaly over 2k crits. Not from stealth its about 600-700. When i use the Shadowcloak shouldnt it be intented that i do again over 2k from stealth? Because when i use cloak it is like i never was in stealth and i crit normal for 600-700...... what use has this cloak? Its broken hard in PVP and in PVE it only allows me to stun again without more dmg ....

Stealth and invisibility are two separate effects. The former is only achieved by crouching and having the eye close. The latter can be achieved either by the nightblade cloak or by a potion.

Only the former gives the sneak attack bonus.

As to what use is the cloak - not for sneak attack bonus, obviously, but you can (assuming the cloak actually works) either boost your crit chance or remove DOT's from yourself, break enemy attack sequence, evade all projectiles that were in-flight towards you, get away from combat, etc.

This sucks Cloak should give stealth and NB would be useful...... and as long Cloak doesnt work as it should yes..... wow awesome

No, sorry. This would be way too powerful in PvP.

Yeah but i have to use 2 skills with manacost it should be a bit more powerful..... look at 1 button impuls spammers. Doing more dmg with lower cost

You will never get agreement here, too many 1 button spammers will whinge about how a NB once hurt them when he caught tham from stealth, forgetting how many they have mowed down with impulse spam, talons/standard spam or puncturing strikes and perma-heal.

Then when this is pointed out they will all claim to know NBs who can complete the serpent trials in 30 seconds solo, wielding only a small teacup while blinfold and naked and you should L2P looooseerrr.

Sadly I have come to believe those posts may be from devs ;)

@SuraklinPrime‌ this post was so epic it healed me from Flu!

I really really insinst of a little boost to make the cloak a little bit more useful as DPS Synergie like about 10% more dmg for next hit or something like that.

It would really help the NB become a better reliable class

There is one trick that works when cloak actually works. If you go in to sneak before using cloak, you can cloak and approach your enemy and they won't see you and will allow you to get off your surprise attack. The cloak (when working which is rare) will allow you to walk right by them without getting pulled out of stealth, and you still get the full bonus. I probably shouldn't mention it because I'm sure that will get nerfed next.

You can also take shadowy disguise and use surprise attack for an almost guaranteed crit. It will add 100% to your crit rating so it won't hit for as much as a stealth attack but it will probably crit. I say probably because in PvP you can't even count on your stealth attacks critting. For some reason it seems like Impenetrable is even reducing the chance of the sneak attack bonus which I don't understand why. Even if you have 60% crit chance + 100% from Shadowy Disguise that still doesn't guarantee a crit in PvP against someone with all impenetrable. Seems kind of crazy. In PvE it should always crit though.

Cloaking while in sneak doesn't give up the sneak bonus. You need to be revealed to lose your sneak or use an ability that reveals you. Buffs can be cast in sneak such as expert hunter, blur, cloak or mark target.

Once you hit something and enter combat, you lose sneak regardless of your eye open or close from cloak.

This I agree with. And I think it makes sense that you can't use your massive 2k+ attack multiple times in the same combat. Just because the enemy can't see you doesn't mean they've forgotten you're there, especially after all that damage you just inflicted.

    ...unless you're playing Skyrim.

It sounds like you are trying to disagree with me but I don't see on what point? I was just pointing that you can use cloak to avoid being detected in situations where you would normally be detected without losing sneak bonus. Maybe you were agreeing with me and it read it wrong?

I have also noticed that attacking from behind, while in Sneak gives me the bonus, but attacking from the front does not, even if I was in sneak mode.

The other reason to use Cloak, at least what I do, is for the passives that give a shield on coming out of Invisibility, and increased damage from being stealthed (not critical, but just an increase in damage, I think it is 70%)

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

You made it sound like cloaking to get in close for a sneak attack shouldn't work. Calling it a trick or next on the nerf chopping block makes it appear like a questionable mechanic. I just wanted to point out that sneak wasn't lost from using buffs.
