Patch wiping customisations

Does it really have to be that patches wipe my keybindings and the presets for colour schemes that we can make for armour?

I logged in today after my client did the mandatory update and went on my merry way to kill things my character had been told to wipe out. Suddenly I couldn't roll-dodge anymore when hitting the assigned mouse button and my ultimate ability first didn't trigger when needed and then triggered at a random moment when my finger accidentally brushed a key that was default but not the one I had assigned previously.

First I thought it was lag but then I figured out everything had reset.

Also, what's the point in giving us the ability to save colour schemes for armour (which I love btw because it saves time mucking about to try and remember what colours I had assigned previously to what slot) when the slate gets wiped clear during a patch?

I'd really like to see that fixed in the future so it won't happen anymore.

Yep, it does that. I also couldnt dodge since I had that on the middle mouse button and swap weapons on tab. colour to all my 5 guilds texts also changed but it was ok if those were the only things, changed them back in 3 mins. But worse came with this patch for me like often crashing to desktop... Very disappointed.

I remember as a teen when we used to watch South Park and take bets early on what would kill Kenny. No one was ever right, since the ways he died was always so random and unrelated to the story.

Kinda like ESO, bugs and patch day.

I just thought maybe it is because they put everything to defaults for the new content to work. Wonder if that is why?

In the known issues list for 1.4.3 they say that it was unintentional. Almost all my keybindings are default, but I feel for those that took a lot of time to change them.

It also, yet again, wiped plenty of addon settings which are even more numerous than the stock ones (given that there is so little to the base UI heh) .

It makes no sense to me. I was fully expecting to have to redo all of my settings/keybinds/addons, but nothing was reset for me at all... (this is on the EU server)

I'd really like to see that fixed in the future so it won't happen anymore.

The reset may have been an honest mistake, but it's a mistake that shouldn't have been made and then allowed to slip into the final patch by a 'professional' outfit that deals with computer code as if the code mattered.

[psssst: They don't mind flipping a switch and changing APIs without notice, either.]

There seems to be something seriously wrong with the development process at ZOS. Quality assurance and testing both appear to be entirely missing, or at least seriously understaffed. Their inability to learn from previous mistakes with sending untested and buggy code live seems to indicate that there is also a management problem. I really wish they would get their act together in this respect, because it is extremely damaging to our gaming experience and to their business.

I just wish they would allow more time between putting patches on the NA server for open beta testing and offering it to the EU server for live play - that way we Euros could get the hot-fixes as well as the patches !
