Summoned pets... how viable in dungeon runs?

Are running with pets out welcome in dungeon runs? I see/read a lot of hate for them but I personally find them indispensable. They tank so well for me that I rarely have to repair my armor. I would think they are like having a 5th and 6th member in the group.

So i'm wondering.. specifically veteran runs.

Once I got to VR Ranks, even before that (probably since L44 or so), I stopped using the Pets. With Surge, Elemental Wall, Impulse, Force (whatever it's called) and Boundless Storm, I have no room on the bar for a Pet Skill.

Even when I swap out some of my Destro staff skills, I still pick other skills like Crystal Shards or Mages Fury to take their place. On my Bow, it is the same thing, no room for a Pet.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Oh, I have a mean built too that consists of no pets... but for PVE pets rule. Especially when it comes to not having to repair armor.

But i'm just curious how welcome they are in team dungeon runs.

I've used the pets in dungeon runs, but honestly they don't stay alive very long. So the rotation included calling a new pet after every major fight. Disappointing because I like to play with the pet in PvE. I'm v10 as well, and I find I am removing the pet from my bar more and more.

They're somewhat useful in the open world when you're by yourself, but in dungeons they'll get one shotted. It's a waste of magicka and a skill slot + the upkeep cost to use them though.
Is it better to out-monster the monster or to be quietly devoured?

I thought that was the point... especially with the exploding demon thing... its an instant cast. So the mob spends its precious time killing it.. gets a face full of damage when it explodes/dies and before it can even turn around to start my way I have another already summoned ready to take its agro again.

I guess I'll continue running with out them on group runs though.

I saw a video of a healer soloing the final boss of Arx Corinium with pets because his group died. I'm sure they have uses here and there, but not many. I do think the Winged Twilight heal might be nice for a tank.

they suck in vr dungeons, and you give up on your dps having them in your cast bar, I havent used pets since lvl 25 or such.

but hey, if you like them, nobody is stopping you from using it ;)

Me too. Lost the clanfear at VR3. Just no room and with Critical Surge, Inner Light and either Vampire Invigorating Drain or Boundless Storm needed, there is only room for 2 weapons on my weapon bar. I'm not complaining, they are devastating.

The other bar needs the holy trinity: Fragments, Fury and Silver Bolts with Restraining Prison, a good pet substitute, and Inner Light.

I did enjoy my clanfear and talked to it a lot. Kinda kept me company in my wanderings. Oh well. ;)

Thanks, this was the sort of feedback I was looking for. I haven't been running with them in groups anyway but was thinking about trying it. Guess not
