Does anybody else find the limitation to 5 skills at a time annoying?

The skill limit makes the game feel dumbed down. This is pc, not console!

REALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what would be the alternative Im very curious to your suggestion lol.

The elder scrolls way. you equip a spell if you want to use magic and use it.

    HELL YEAH!

And if you wanna cast and use a weapon, bye bye shield.... :)

No I like it that way. It forces players to think and select the most interesting spells for their builds. The limitation is part of the strategy. I like it.

Unfortunately, forcing people to think has never been a winning strategy in any field.. likewise trying to get people out of their habits

Somewhat and only 5 skills combined with things like ML and summons requiring both slots to be effective tends to force all builds to be the same. 6 or 7 slots or adding special shared slots for toogles.... Most class/weapons/ have 1 really great skill............. when those are put in there is no room for some diverstiy in builds, that is one reason all builds are the same. I will say i dont want 9 or more on each bar ........ that would be worse than what we have now for me.

I doubt its gonna change tho..... i cant ever imagine ESO ever changing this.... its like AH, bag size, & a couple of other things ESO is stubborn about not changing.

Some things like bag size, Horse cost, and other gold & time sinks they make high i thinks so if the game goes F2P they can sell those convenience items .... thats why they wont change such things..... someday sit down and think of what irritates u about eso, then ask yourself if this game was free to play if ESO could sell a fix for that (say bag space) for real cash. All ready you can buy a horse for 2 hours work at min wage worst case.................. saving up for one is probally 5 to 10 hours word at best for a new player.

    Yes, it is annoying.

My 2 bars are the same weapon type, just that I need to manage the 2 resources and get in and out (i am not in skirt with stick)

    First bar
    1 gap closer, 3 melees (2 magicka, 1 stamina), 1 escape

    Second bar
Range (magic, stamina), Cleanse, speed, mgic shield

And weapon swap has lag. A lag of a split-second means dead.

Your class needs 1or 2 skills doesnt mean others are the same.

I can handle 20 keys and just want to avoid the weapon swap delay which most of the time cost a life. If you dont need that, just leave those slot blank.

No. In fact, I consider it a selling point. I will never again play a game that doesn't restrict to a small set of skills (5-10).

    No.

    Not at all.

It's a design choice that I fully and completely support.

    Don't like? Don't play.
Brunhilda Icehammer - Nord Dragonknight, 'Smith & Enchantress 'What is 'ranged? I need to hit something!!'
Laehl Direthorn - Bosmer Nightblade, Purveyor of fine Clothes, Bows and Staves
Reeza gra-Zuni - Orc Templar 'War Shaman' and Apothecary
Noemi Snowpaw - Kajiit Dragon Knight - I laugh... or I'd have to kill you.
Kitera Dreamon - Breton of The Dominion: Because those Daggers don't appreciate a great Mage.
Lysara Shadowcroft - Dunmer Bloodmage: This will only hurt a lot.

One of the best features of the game. No "one spec does all", like so many MMOs. I understand the " I learned it I should be able to use" point of view, and as much as there are times I wish I had 1 or 2 more skills on my bar, in the end I far prefer this system

Limited to 5 (6) because that's how many you can comfortably use on a PlayStation/Xbox controller. It wont change because this game is designed for them.....we are just Beta testing it for them.
Being First is not the prize, it just mean's everyone can stab you in the back.

I agree, OP. But at least the game is balanced right now. I've read that's a reason why the bars are like this.

Sooo, I'm supposed to open my spell book or ability list or whatever you call it before an encounter and put my abilities on the bar according to the fight I'm about to do. That's how you're supposed to play I suppose. Now, where's the immersion fans on this one?

And this topic should continue to be revisited, like all the other threads about things people don't agree with in the game.

My keyboard may have 102 keys, but I only have two hands with 5 fingers each, and one of them is busy with the trackball.

I like it the way it is. You have to think about what you want and slightly adjust your bars depending on your situation (solo/group/PvP).

They designed a game where you can only have 5 active abilities at a given time. I'd certainly find it useful / interesting to have a mode or area where I can equip all abilities to easily test interactions/effects without having to swap 50+ abilities, but I don't think the game would just remain in the state it currently is without things progressing into a very dire situation if you just opened that up to all areas.

Having all abilities at once would ruin those situations where my build is better than your build simply because you're weak against my play style. Like the vampires you mentioned, if you want to counter vampire/werewolf (lol I know) players you run fighter guilds abilities, but you don't necessarily want to put that on your bar JUST for those circumstances. You make decisions ahead of time, and those decisions affect the outcomes of your PvP/PvE experiences. Vamps/WW is just one example, there are many builds/play styles that excel and even out-right counter other play styles. Giving everyone access to every build/play style would make it boring.

And maybe a bit of an afterthought - when certain players build their playstyle and make it very focused, say my ganker high-burst damage/low survivability I can meet up with other players who synergize with me, say a player with high survivability coupled with healer. Again I think it would be less interesting if every player can have all builds/play styles readily accessible, making team synergy less interesting/important.
