Troll/spy camps

There is a major problem we have had on Thornblade today with either spys or trolls putting up camps in random places to reach camp cap so no offensive EP camps can be placed on the map. This is a problem that needs to be looked into because it has happened more than once. We were fighting the AD at BRK, I went to place a camp up and we had reached camp limit and the reason was we had camps all through enemy territory, nowhere near enemy keeps, just placed randomly.

Welcome to what AD has been dealing with for the last few weeks. ZOS response has been some what lacking. It is a problem and needs to be addressed ASAP, not in update 1.7.8 when all the pvp players have left the game. We have come up with several solutions but its not up to us (the customer) to implement them. I can assure you, no one in zone was bragging about troll camping EP tonight as we would have called them out and reported them. My group was even talking to an EP group about the locations to go and burn them. We want fair battles just like most the pop does and troll camping is a garbage tactic.

OUCH lol....too back you can burn your own sides tents or pull them back in like siege equipment.

Though regardless SOMEBODY is going to troll.

I guess the BIGGEST things ZOS could have and SHOULD have done from launch was lock each account into a faction.

WHY they never did that from the start is beyond me as they allowed 1 player to visit all factions content.

So I spotted the answer it came to me in vision from the GAWDS.

KEEP THE CAP........make the newest tent placement override the oldest. You can now always place a tent when and where you need to.

nah, cause then said troll will line the wall with camps opposite of where we need them. Just put a player name on the camp so we can report the trolls or reward the camper when they are spending AP to keep us in the fight. It's not always a negative reason we want things changed.

Yeah, this is a common occurrence for every faction, it seems. Sadly.

If you're talking about Thornblade EU then it's a problem for all 3 factions.

Tried to push for emperor and before we could get the last keep there suddenly appeared a ring of troll camps.

I can't really say much more about it than what's already been said, only to add my voice to the growing chorus of people who want a definitive answer from ZOS.

Placed camps should have the name of the player's character who placed it. Those who use them correctly will be credited by alliance members for the camps. Those who troll like tonight on Thornblade(EU) will be found out easily.

This post was for the NA server, sorry for any confusion. It needs urgent addressing if it happens on both megaservers

Yes it happens on both. Last night on Thornblade EU, DC were just 1 keep from taking Emperor. Something we don't do very often as EP usually dominate the campaign. When our camp at Alessia fell, somebody placed a camp in the middle of nowhere so that the camps radius meant we could not reinforce Alessia and thus lost the attack.

That wasn't the end of it though, The EP Spy (as DC were calling him) then went to every keep we owned and started placing camps in between them, so that the camps were quite useless but also meant we could not defend our keeps once dead and we quickly lost many of our keeps. Such a shame that they felt the need to cheat on a campaign they are already winning.

Here is a couple examples of it happening, not sure what the devs can do to help with this, but something needs to be done.

I'm going to put my foot in my mouth here but since we have seen the influx of a certain alliance to Thornblade we have had a SIGNIFICANT increase in Troll camping. I don't recall seeing much of it, if any, during Thornblade 1.0.

Regardless of my skewed opinion it is a MAJOR issue Zos needs to address immediately as it is compromising the integrity of the PvP experience. At this point Zos should just disable the use of Forward Camps until they have figured out how they can be used appropriately and fairly in Cyro. This would end Troll Camping and get rid of the vile suicide resource alliances try to maintain.

They should just make the area in and around keeps (extending to it's own resources) a separate area or make an entirely new type of camp for keep areas (both defensive or offensive).

If camps actually had the name of player who placed the camp on the map. Would reduce the likelihood of it happening because it shows a pattern

Locking an account into a Faction is a worthy idea for many reasons. It wouldn't solve the problem but it would make it more expensive.

However, for it to work you'd need the ability to switch Factions as well. Your max level characters have played for all three anyway if you built them though the PvE quest story.

I am in favor of locking an account into a faction as well. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the only freedom a player would lose is the ability to play six of the races. This could be remedied through achievements though. Cadwell's Silver would unlock the ability to play an additional 3 races, and Cadwell's Gold would unlock the final 3, the races unlocked being respective to whichever area those achievements were tied to for you.

The effect of this would be removing a perk from the more expensive edition of ESO. My counter to this is that A.) There are already other perks to keep sales going and B.) Being able to play any race in any alliance from the start without going through the Cadwell's achievements is still a pretty big perk.

This way, you would be locked into an alliance but still be able to play any of the 9 races in the alliance you chose to lock your account into.

Yes but then some players would be harassed for their placement of a legitimate camp that is affecting another groups need to place a camp. I like the idea but there has to be a better way and I have to think Zos can easily run some reports and figure out what players are dropping these and investigate it without us knowing - I'd like to think they are already doing this but we never know as they are dead silent right now other than they are aware it is an issue.

Agreed. This one is on ZoS. I play EP on EU Thornblade and the amount of troll camping coming from DC lately is getting ridiculous. Sometimes 4-5 trolls camps at the same time. That combined with them stealing scrolls when the gates are closed, abusing whatever glitch that allows that. This crap keeps getting worse, most likely due to the fact that ZoS aren't taking any actions against cheaters.

Than again I have no doubt that people in my own faction have started to abuse trolls camps as well. There's like no point in discussing who is worse. All factions have cheating scum-bags. As soon as one guild or group within a faction starts cheating, the enemy will do the same to counter. The issue is cheating being a viable tactic in Cyrodiil, since no repercussions.

ZoS has to fix this rubbish. For start, by removing the travel to play option in Cyrodiil. That would make it a lot harder to have a spy character on the same campaign as your main. Wouldn't remove all troll camps, but at least decrease the amount significantly.

I have always believed the accounts should have been faction locked. OR OR OR OR you could make it so your account has to choose a PVP faction. You can have alts in another faction but you simply cant join ANY PVP with that character.

Same happened twice on Chillrend on the AD side last night. Very obvious troll camps placed to lock out 3 keeps from having a useful forward camp.
