In a true RPG you'd have something of a choice. A worthwhile read, if I do say so myself.
Mannimarco is just more fun, interesting, but also subtle in Daggerfall. His characterization in ESO comes off as cartoonish. I half expected him to grow a mustache just so he could twirl it whenever he spoke to me.What do you call a Wood Elf who doesn't lie or cheat or steal?

Oh yeah, he's definitely more low key in Daggerfall, but he also needs the PC to like him so they'll do his dangerous odd jobs/ transport his mail/ secure his apotheosis. I'm just glad they incorporated the manipulative/political aspect of him in the game, rather than take the Oblivion route where he came off as some mediocre wizard squatting in a cave with a petty grudge against the Mages Guild.
His Daggerfall iteration will always be my favorite, but I've grown pretty of fond of him in ESO. Plus hammy villains are the best
