    I have one reservation about this idea, the maps are random drops, so finding them all in the first place would be a herculean effort. It might be a good idea to have a few half way achievements, so as not to scare people off.

    Oh, and you need to get the Achievement for finding the treasure not the map. (obviously the game only reveals the treasure if you have the map, so it's already covered)

    I think you should be able to collect all maps relatively easily by trading. Anyway, half-achievements per zone might be a bit much in my opinion, it's kinda like the fishing ones.

    The achievement getting completed by opening the chest is what I had in mind, yes.

    The treasure doesn't appear unless you have the map, and the map disappears afterwards.

    I thought they were just artful renditions of common chests, so "why should I spend hours actually treasure hunting?" when I stumble upon this nearly worthless treasure every 5 minutes.

    But, If the latter, then I have destroyed soo many treasure maps :s.

    He's not rephrasing. That's how treasure maps work.

    I don't think more expensive maps improve immersion necessarily. Thematically if you found a treasure map, wouldn't you keep it as if your life depended on it? Also I'd be weary about buying some scribbles on parchment and trusting that it will lead me to loot..

    If you hold on to something for dear life, doesn't that make it very valuable? I get your point about trusting strangers' treasure maps. Just imagine they have the map, take you along to help them and share the treasure with you, if that helps.

    What do you think about the achievement though?

    I know this could be interpreted as badgering you guys. I apologize for my impatience. But, considering the reception this idea received, I strongly feel that it deserves a comment.

    Be it that these achievements will make it into the game, that it has yet to be evaluated, or that it won't work for some reason. As long as it's a confirmation of someone having seen and considered the idea, I'd be very grateful.

    I have a question about bound stolen treasure, as I am getting into the blue items now worth 250 a piece from going on a loot run and pilfering from a ship, sacks, and barrels and the like, what exactly is there purpose other than to sell to a fence ?

    That's all the items are for, selling to fences. But it's a good money maker, it levels your Ledgerdemain skill, and goes to a few Ledgerdemain achievements. Even if you are not interested in being a thief, it's worth it to reach level 16 in Ledgerdemain. You can spend points in a passive that reduces sneak cost by 40%.
