Solution to inadequate traits on gear/weapons?

Well I was thinking about a solution to the trait problem we often encounter in PvP/ PvE where we get near useless traits on what could of been good gear.

For example: We frequently get PvP gear with exploration on it. Exploration is fine on low level gear when you're leveling, but what is it doing on "End game" (veteran) PvP gear.. I'm pretty sure there's things like this in PvE too. (Feel free to post an example).

Anyways, I was thinking that maybe we could change the trait on a piece of gear and implement a time sink with it. Since crafting is such a big thing in this game, I was thinking it should be a system that is tied to crafting.

We could get a new passive that lets us change the trait on a piece of gear, but that takes time to do like researching traits.

For example: Converting trait X to trait Y takes T amount of time. So let's say we have well-fitted and we want to convert it to infused. To do this we go to the crafting table, and we have an option of either converting a gear or weapon trait, but it takes 5 days (random number) for it to complete.

Passives could be like:

Conversion 1: Convert one trait, conversion takes 15 days
Conversion 2: Convert one trait, conversion takes 10 days
Conversion 3: Convert two traits at a time, conversion takes 5 days

etc.

These are all random numbers, but feel free to post any ideas on how long it should take or how many traits we are able to research at once.

I doubt this will be implemented, but we really need a solution to this. I seriously don't understand what is going through their heads when they choose traits on gear. I really hope they start getting in touch with the player base when deciding things like these.
