The Case of the Missing Trait

I admit that I have more than one Alt, all of them have researched Traits.

So my Main needed some new Blacksmithing skill, a fortnight ago, and perusing the Alts I noted that I had apparently finished the Dagger line on one Alt so I decided to research the last Dagger slot on the Main. I open up the Alt and find the slot has not, in fact, been researched and is not being researched. I figure I must have screwed up my records and find something different to research (correcting the paper record with tippex).

Opening up the Alt last night and to check when the Blacksmithing trait would end, I move to the dagger line, without thinking, and find all eight traits researched. I check the records, it still has the entry tippexed. This isn't a complaint by the way .

So, obviously, the last trait must have been Forbidden Lore and therefore Hermaeus Mora must have removed it from the world . Fortunately, some un-named hero must have recovered the lore and restored it to the world, having it magically restored.

So what is your tale, oh un-named hero? How did you manage to recover the lore, what trials did HM put you through?

I have noticed this a couple of times when researching recently. The game would tell me I had 5 traits but then the research times were for 6 traits when I tried to research that item. I do use the Craft Store add on (pretty much required if your trying to be diligent about research) and have noticed that sometimes it's off too. I would blame the add on, but I have seen this without the add on too.

Although, the next log in/log out on that character sorted out the missing trait. BTW, I can fix the add on by just deselecting that armor or weapon line in the matrix, and then re-selecting it. I get the right count immediately.

I have also noticed this right after finishing up research on something, so perhaps the game needs some time to resolve things. Maybe related to how we can't always log out right away, as the server has not completed it's save yet.

Does anyone know where the hero comes from? I'd like to buy that hero an ale. For prying the knowledge free from Hermaeus Mora.

I've deleted a trait before which messed up my records but I have my guild to thank for getting the trait back. An epic duel with a daedric prince to get it back might have been fun.

Thanks @Gyudan but my EU Alts are all low level, I just have to play them more often to get gear. My 8 NA Alts have an Average Level of 19 +/-10 and those are the ones who have occasionally trait issues. It's not a huge issue, I was hoping to promote Tall Tales here
