Guild Communication

I want this:

Replace "Message of the Day" with "Announcements" and give a much larger area for content.

OR

Safely send mail to guild members without worrying about being accused of spamming.

Which one can I have?

Right now, there is no way for me to communicate to the guild members other than guild chat or our own guild website.

The chat only works for those who are currently online and reading it and the website only works for those who check in there on a regular basis.

Sometimes a GM needs to be able to communicate with everyone!
I'd like to see a guild wide mail function ...

I always liked WoW's system (I know, sue me), where it displayed guild messages upon login. That might be a different situation with multiple guilds, but it is certainly worth a thought.

These are certainly reasonable requests, and we will definitely consider them for the future. Are you guys still getting flagged as spamming if you send mail to many guild members at a time?

Because the only guilds I must belong to are trade guilds (because no global economy and ability to sell goods otherwise), I don't want your guild email spam (and I will report it as such, regardless of the content), and I'm not reading any announcements or messages on the in-game guild page anyway. I'm only using the trade guild to replace the crappy decision to not have the ability to sell goods otherwise. Therefore, my intent is to make you running a guild as painful as possible, resulting in you complaining more and more to do something about the economy situation. When the economy is fixed you can have your social guild and I'll support you having all the cool guild email systems and announcement pages you want.

I would also really like the ability to save outgoing mail. And to have to be longer than a couple short paragraphs. I want to be able to COPY the text of an email (AND THE CHAT SCREEN TOO!) as well. What we have now is REALLY TERRIBLE for guild communication. Please fix ASAP.

    @ZOS_GinaBruno I'd rather not try.

But even if i did, i would still have to mail each member individually by cross referencing the guild roster and then retyping each recipient in the mail window.
And then hope that copy & paste still works for the actual mail.

With 110+ members, that is one heck of a time-sink ...

For my part, I have not officially had any problems. I've been doing the copy and paste trick just like the previous poster described. It's so slow it probably doesn't set off any spam filters! LOL

I am however considering the MailR add-on but am concerned about that utility setting off flags so I haven't used it yet.

    AND...

Thank you very much for giving some consideration to these ideas!

@SirAndy there is a addon that will help with that.
@Super_Sonico you are not a good person. I dont care what your reasons are but being an &%&^( to everyone around jsut becuase you dont agree with the decisions made when they made the game is not a logical recourse.

I'm not a guild owner (or even an officer), but I wanted to share my voice and say I agree with your suggestions. I don't regard receiving messages from my guild as spam. All of my guilds have a website of some kind, but I never remember to check them while I'm not playing the game. Better communication methods in the guilds would make me feel more involved.

There is an addon that allows me to send mail to every guild member. Its buggy and crashes and its very slow, sending a mail every 10 seconds. You must keep the mail window open for the duration, very inconvenient. 10 seconds times 500 members = 83.33 minutes, roughly 1 hour 23 minutes. I am afraid I might get kicked for inactivity so I stay and chat in Guild chat with the mail open.

This method crashes more often that it completes its task, and leaves you with no idea who got the mail, etc.

I would support having a larger MOTD that is displayed on log in, but with 5 guilds you need the option to turn them off, individualy.

I would also support allowing guild mail to be sent without cumbersome addons. I know you might be concerned with massive server requests, so perhaps limiting those guild mail-outs to once per day (with no long wait and no spam flag)

When I say I would support these changes what I really mean, in the nicest way possible, is that you don't really have a "full featured" MMO without Both of these features. (My opinion of course, everyone has one)

Give guilds more of these kinds of tools please, like withdrawal limits per rank for the guild banks :)

MMO's rely on happy and functional Guilds, its really in your best interest to improve these areas.

    Thanks for listening.

I can't answer that one, but I can tell you I've been disconnected for spamming while promoting or demoting several members. Also for hittting any keys during lag.

    @ZOS_GinaBruno‌

Having the MotD configurable on an individual guild-by-guild basis would be ideal.
My thoughts: Default setting: On, with an option to turn it off for each guild you are in.

Better chat window message handling would also be Very helpful.
When 4-5 guilds all start chatting at the same time, it is Very cumbersome.
I have tried setting up the chat window to display only certain message types (such as /g1 or /g2) but this creates a considerable amount of additional lag. I'm not sure what is going on there to create the lag, but it is very noticeable. Without some sort of notification sound, you miss a ton anyways, so it's not really worth it.

Not trying to get off topic, but: Speaking of notification sounds ... a small notification sound when you receive a whisper would be Very helpful as well.

An in-game event sign up interface would be very useful.

Im an officer in a guild that runs Trials, Vet Dungeon nights , PVP

Currently we use notes to denote people who are committed and spam guild chat every 10 minutes-30 minutes in the hour or two before an event.

Some way of tracking events and who has committed would greatly improve guild management IMHO

I haven't had the problem with being flagged for spamming with the mailr guild addon, but I've used it maybe once recently and it wasn't too many people (in the 20s)

Being able to do this without an addon would be divine. I know one of my trade guilds, the leader went dormant and we had to transfer to a new guild and the new leader couldn't get mailr to send mail to all 500 members without it locking up. Being able to mass send in game would probably help with that.

And yea the MOTD being so ridiculously limited... I don't get that, I can't put any decent information on there.

@Auric_ESO‌ Absolutely it's a logical recourse. You help me fix what I don't like, I'll help you fix what you don't like. I don't like being forced to be in trade guilds because ZOS can't find a better way to allow me to buy and sell goods. That's just bad game design. I'll make it as painful for everyone around me until I'm happy. Then I'll do just as much to make sure you're happy. Perfectly valid approach. Don't like it? Cry me a river.

Yes, we are. I notice this post is from almost two years ago, but yes, we are still getting spam flags, apparently. I got flagged yesterday night from sending a guild mail announcing that we started a facebook page so that we can put some info on there instead of mass mailing, ironically enough. We REALLY need better in-game tools for guild communication. More room to put information in Guild Info or the MOTD, or the ability to mail guildmembers by guild rank. Preferably both, as many members only check mail and ignore MOTD, or check MOTD notifications but have full inboxes.

I kind of feel like having multiple guilds is part of the problem. It feels like you are never truly invested in one guild because your friends are scattered throughout multiple guilds. Having less guilds perhaps a social/battle guild and one trader guild, any more than that and communication suffers.
