regular maintenance canceled again with no details

We will not be having our regular maintenance for the North American and European Megaservers on September 8 and 9, respectively.

again it would be nice if zos let us know when the patch was going to be released even a rough idea and what they are working on

or there should be a bit more detail to this like why you have postponed maintenance again

does anyone else think there is not enough detail to zos announcements and there should be more ?

I am also noticing a SEVERE onset of lag and minor problems (unresponsive keystrokes, etc) that I begin to believe are a result of the lack of maintenance. Perhaps in my ignorance I am incorrect, but it seems that after each maintenance the responsiveness is better and lag is less.

Is this appearing in the box at the top of the forum? I closed my box with the X earlier this week and it has not re-appeared. If they have posted something in the box, I would definitely be interested in finding out how to turn it back on.

well this is the second time that the maintenance has been canceled the first time is a ok but the second time without a bit of explanation to why its postponed again

it takes a little bit more time and it would give people the feeling that zos actually care about the people that are writing the messages to instead of just coping and pasting and changing the dates

I think the point is that more than a few people have been experiencing some game issues that a maintenance shutdown could help with. Meanwhile, issue 1.4 is due out soon.

As such, if 1.4 is coming out on Tuesday or something, losing the maintenance tomorrow isn't that bad. But if it's not due out until next week, then I'd rather they do the maintenance.

It's really simple. The regular maintenance has been delayed again because the update is still not ready. Want to speed up the release? Hop on the PTS and help out.

Sadly, ZO's team doesn't perform their maintenance when you feel like they should.

They aren't going to tell us when the patch is landing (but I'd say Tuesday is a long-shot), and they aren't going to offer up an explanation for not doing maintenance. Because that's absolutely ridiculous. No company should ever have to explain keeping the servers up.

They are not doing maintenance because they don't think they need to. It is simple as that.

They have obviously focused fixing bugs in Update 4, so that removes the need to do patch maintenance. Putting the fixes on the PTS also has the bonus of being where people might be able to tell of a fix works. I would not be surprised if this does not become the normal way they do things.

If the server needed to be taken down for maintenance due to performance or instability or to install some server-side fix, I am sure they would do it. They certainly never hesitated before now to take it down on scheduled, and unscheduled, days.

It's actually the 3rd time, consecutively. I like seeing all the progress in the semiweekly patch notes. Nut as long as they're not on vacation, I'm just gonna enjoy the extra up time.

Closed out of my browser (Firefox), ate something, came back and it popped up.

Forums are possessed, I tell ya.

I normally don't x out of the messages since they eventually close themselves.

Server seems to be performing really poorly after the skipped maintenances. Hopefully after 1.4 is out the schedule resumes...otherwise expect lost subs.

Bugs are one thing... but playability (lag, crashes) will drive players away faster than anything else.

True, and the servers do need maintenance, if the OP had just stuck to that, most of us would be agreeing with him.

Again True, but I was one of the ones who defended ZoS for maintenance, as were you if I remember correctly. And I have been having issues with the game today, maintenance would be nice.

My conscience does make me confess that the maintenance times were extremely good for me, happening while I was asleep. But I defended my previous' games maintenance too, and that was during prime playing time.

Saw the green icon and thought "Yay, they're finally going to communicate about it and explain why they've been abandoning maintenance when the servers clearly need it, maybe even give us the run down on update 4" but instead once again it's just a mod slapping some people. Oh joy.

This is not a bad thing. The less frequently they do maintenance, the less likely they are to introduce new bugs. This is just a fact of ANY IT project lifecycle.

I'm not saying the game is perfect, but I would support them in taking time to research, develop, and test fixes \ maintenance before rolling them out.

i noticed a slightly better performance in terms of lags AFTER the maintainance. Right now there are lagspikes that make the game unplayable - and i´m not talking about Cyrodiil.
all in all the lags have INCREASED since the migration of the EU- Server. Maybe put it back in US ??^^
And for the next Content update i fear the worst ....
I can live with the bugs and such things, they will be sooner or later eradicated - but if you (zenimax) cant make that game run without these lags....i fear my days in Tamriel are numbered.

absolutely always been on the defending part of this, especially after they fixed their maintenance timers for EU and NA servers, making them always long outside normal prime-time

and yeah there are stuff that surely can/needs fixing, im thinking more the reason might be something to do with the patch, being released soon.

Last patch also went to 1.3.2 and got released a week later, we at 1.4.2 now, and with guilds having completed Arena both normal and veteran mode, its safe to say we are getting real close to release

I don't notice much in a performance hit when they skip maintenance. However, each time the Monday maintenance is skipped, the guild trader kiosks get bugged. The first time it happened, they did an unscheduled maintenance to fix it. This past week, they just chose to ignore it, and thus some kiosks went unclaimed, and bugged because nobody could buy out the unclaimed kiosks.

I guess we get to enjoy another week of bugged guild traders.
