How can I completely disable the chat?

Making a "silent" tab doesn't work. I still get tons of notifications of people logging in and out.

The triangle that minimizes the window leaves behind an annoying bar.

I couldn't find a mod that removes the chat window while not in the UI. Does anyone know of one?

Download an addon called RaidAway - then disable the notifications of people logging in and out and also make the chat window 0% visible.

Thank you. I had a feeling there was an addon that had some kind of setting. Much appreciated.

    why would you want to...

Also it tends to just fade away on its own.

Just when I'm playing full immersive every now and then. I'll play first person with nothing at all on screen using the wykdd immersive mod. No compass, crosshair, skill bar or stat bars (except when necessary). Just a blank screen. While doing this I would constantly get log in and out messages for people getting on and switching characters. The message for completing trials was always annoying no matter how I was playing. That addon was perfect.

I think you could just disable the whole UI. I have my disable ui set so I can turn it off for screen captures. Unless you still want things like health bars and skill slots or something.

So you are one of the people who just ignore me as I try to talk to you while questing/in town?

Disabling the UI doesn't let you activate things. Last time I tried anyway. I played around with that some but had to go in and out to loot mobs, etc.

I still keep say, yell, guild officers and PMs active.

Heh, and herein lies the problem with people's theories that chat bubbles would somehow make it so people actually respond when they talk.

Nope. The same people who don't respond now will be the same people with chat bubbles turned off.

The chat is still there it just only shows when someone is talking to me or right next to me.

No notifications, zone chat or guild chat. I wanted to get rid of the voices in my head =]

This isn't all the time. Just when I want to focus on the stories. Certainly not when playing competitive.

If anything I'm more likely to notice when someone is talking to me. Its the only thing that will show up on screen.

Me asking to completely hide the chat box was out of frustration. That addon is the ideal solution.

I don't know about others but I personally don't deliberately ignore people. When someone whispers me in a town, I might not notice the whisper because I'm focused on my activity. I remember recently, one of my Alts was whispered about mats, which I only noticed just as I logged out.

I have problems noticing the chat, TBH, it fades away and I can never remember how to make it visible again. The only keys that are relevant to me are 1 to 7, QWASDEJI, CTL, Shift and two function keys, the rest are sort of a mystery ;)
