Can we please get popular polls stickied?

How about disabling the poll option instead? They're vastly over-used and usually serve no real purpose beyond providing some sort of misplaced ego-trip for the person who creates the poll instead of adding his view to an existing thread or simply creating a new discussion thread (without a poll) where the topic is genuinely new.

Yeah I resisted the urge to create a poll for this - I've seen enough of them this week to last a lifetime. Thing is, many of them are the same polls, week after week, started again. To prevent this, stickying the most popular ones at the top could be a good answer.

I'm afraid there are far too many self-important people around for that to have any effect, they would still put up their poll and justify doing so by offering slightly different options.

Effective moderation is the only answer really, the mods need to remove duplicate polls, as well as moving all the lag and other performance threads to the Support forum where they belong.

First, OP, I was not aware their were any "popular polls."

Second, "No."

Third, @Tandor, would be great if you entered the topic on one page and then forum autosearched for similar results before letting you enter the body on the next page.

Works for FAQ's, and people sure as heck don't use the search function themselves before starting the next duplicate thread...

Maybe a specific polls category? Then at least more popular polls would remain on front page.

Popular polls - ones with many responses.

No - why not? We have the same polls posted on a weekly basis asking the same questions - by stickying one, we can collect all of the data in one place - and it'll stop my eyes bleeding from all the poll spam!

better yet, create a new forum option for Polls, and make that sub-forum the only spot you can make polls

I think it would be better to fix the search functionality of the forums than to "sticky" popular polls. I don't think this is an issue with the polls, because people post the same non-poll threads over and over again as well.

I disagree with all of the people saying there shouldn't be polls at all, I like them being available.

If they regularly answered and chimed in on things, there would be less duplicates, especially if they actually kept the answers and questions in a centralized place, they can link to the thread and people can find their answers quickly. Instead we get this clusterfrak.

You see multiples because they get ignored. You see multiplies because the search function is so dysfunctional it's not even funny. You see multiplies because in the rare instance that something is answered, it's buried in the dev tracker that has no chance of ever being found again or it's posted somewhere else instead of their official forum.
