    I think that's a great idea
The idea is to provide a height scale at character creation, either in cm or inches or both, so that players will get a feeling how big the character is they are creating. It will help create the character you want if you know your Orc is 2.20m tall or if your sorceress is a tiny 1.61m figure.

In addition they could add some suggestions such as:
    • The average Orc male is 1.95m
    • The average Altmer female is 1.83m
    • The average Breton male is 1.81m
    • etc.

Does the height slider not already indicate height?

I.e. setting the slider to the far left indicates the shortest stature for your race's gender, middle indicates average height, far right indicates the tallest.

It seems like fun, but I think there's more important things out there for the devs to focus on? I think you should be able to guess your Orc, if in keeping with stereotypical race archetypes, will be on the higher side of the scale, and woodelves would be on the lower, without needing a guide...

Sure it does, but it gives no context. You have no idea how your character will look like in relation to other players in the game.

    Ah, I see now.

It would be an interesting feature, but I don't mind one way or another.

I think having an actual number next to that height slider is a great idea. Don't know why they didn't do that.

I would love it. I always make my characters too short, I need a reference point.

I agree, a few times i created a char thinking that the height looked fine, then get off the boat and i'm either a midget or a basketball player.

How about shadow figures to indicate the shortest and tallest a race can be? And as you change the height on character creation it shows where your character is in relation to those.

I haven't needed it, but I have no objection to having some sort of reference for the height.

Don't give them ideas like bringing back the flying dinosaurs from Morrowind, I forgot the name but I HATED those things. :(

Sounds like a great addition to my suggestion. As long as it shows an actual number I am happy. :-)

Best reason in the world to use Marksman for a character in Morrowind....and download the free Area Effects Arrows mod. Giant fireballs and lightning balls silencing the horrendous Skreeeeees.......

And actually you're too late. If you're in the Vvardenfall area, around Ash Mountain, look up. There are cliffracers. They just don't attack you. So far. [My first character was EP, and when I was running around the area I saw the shadow, heard a screech and walked off a cliff and died while staring up to see whether it would attack or not.]

Definitely agree! Made a character, worked forever to get her just right , put her in the game she was ankle heighth compared to everyone else... DELETE.. Never could remake her :\ . Some kind of height indicator would be nice. I don't want a giant like lyris or a mini me either...

The best thing they could do is have a male and female of each race, all the average height for that race, in the background as you customize your toon. This would provide a reference, and would make it obvious which races tend to be taller or shorter.

They should also animate the reference npc characters to whistle and make catcalls as you design your toon with the 'no gear' option.

    I like it!

Actually just remade, because I realized after creation, my dark elf was almost as tall as my friend's barbarian. I wanted to be a couple heads shorter at least. :)

Would have been handy to plan the exact height ahead like this.

Luckily, I learned in beta to screenshot my character creations beforehand. That way i can just alt-tab back and forth to quickly reset my settings to how they were.

Which brings up another feature I'd like in character creation -- numbers on the sliders. That way we can quickly see we have Hair #15, Lip Size #7, etc.

Great stuff! But I still think it would be fairly convenient to have this scale integrated in the character creation process.

I know altmers are supposed to be tall, but it can be kind of...annoying (to give it a word) when you find out you are taller than even most of the other altmer in the game. Then recreate the character to later figure out that she is too close to being of the same stature as the khajiits? It's a pet peeve, but an annoying one none the less.

So yes to some sort of scale would be most beneficial. At least give me the average height for each race.

Basically, you people worry too much about adding superfluous stuff while major bugs keep me from playing pvp and whatnot. Pets, all the stuff you want them to add just keeps them from fixing bugs that have been present since beta. I really wish these awkward requests for minor interesting crap like scaling of player height would just vanish from the forums, along with threads to add flying, holiday celebration gimmicks and all the other crap that no one really needs right now.

Wow, you are so positive! What a joy!

You are completely right about the priorities.

But this request says nothing about its priority. There are a lot of people who think the idea is great. Obviously this idea is not urgent right now. But it is still a good idea and should land in the backlog.

Now don't waste our time by complaining about this request and go spend it ranting somewhere.

I didn't know the game was tailored to you. FYI, there are different teams working on bug fixes and content.

Height scale in inches and cm would be great and not too hard to implement in game together with character recostumization option. It would save us a lot of trouble.

i voted against...only because i am indifferent. I'll change my vote if you add an indifferent option...the poll feels very weighted without. im either totally looking forward to it, or a meanie and don't want it.

If it doesn't take up too much dev time, sure. doesn't affect me at all.
