A thank you for removing Gold Sellers

I just want to say a huge "Thank you" to ZOS for ridding Tamriel of those nasty gold sellers. I haven't seen any or received a mail from them for ages now. I think they've done a good job. :) Thanks, everyone! *hugs*

What other bugs or problems have you noticed are now gone forever? Have you stopped to think about it yet? I admit I didn't notice this until a few days ago my friend complained about gold spammers in his (other) mmo.

@Bleakraven‌, thanks for not buying gold from gold spammers? (lol). It's not profitable to buy new account to spam. BTW you can easily find gold sellers, try to google

Gold comes so easy, especially in higher levels and if you're in trading guilds that those miserable sods with their bots have gone to another hype bandwagon MMO and thank the lords for small mercies.

And really once you get off the ground, horses, bag space, crafting started, there really isn't a whole lot to spend money on.

Money always becomes easier to generate in end game, it was that way in my last MMO, and will be in my next.

The problem is that because costs increase as you level, the cash has too as well. It's one of those minor niggles no-one has figured out a way of countering.

I never understood why anyone would ever need to buy gold for this game.

The game provides what you need, whether it is Gold, or Loot, or Materials. My Farming runs provide me the loot that I either use, research, deconstruct or sell. Why would I ever need gold for this?

Besides, once you have made your first character, then each Alt can get all the gold or mats or equipment whatever from the first character.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

That is partially why you only see them when games launch. Now that people have been here for five months most people can afford what they want like motifs and horses. If you want all the motifs and the 42k horse the first month that is when people buy gold. Now that people can earn enough for pretty much everything for sale there is no point in selling it.

Gold sellers could not compete with the fierce attacks by the gms. They were hunted down and banned. They did not remove themselves lol.

What fierce tactic did the GM's use? I saw 20+ bot trains for days and had multiple people reporting them and sat around for over an hour and never saw a GM show up.

We don't know because they won't tell us. But yes they did ban them effectively and not just move on. I saw several bot trains run around at the beginning then all of a sudden they all just stopped died and disappeared. It was quite a sight. Zenimaxs efforts where effective which is why we started getting gold seller emails. Then when they where getting banned that way the gold sellers where impersonating Zenimax to try that way. So no they didn't move on Zenimax just did a good job. Not having an auction house helps too.

The gold spammers however will forever plague F2P games. They would still be spamming gold if they could, I've played enough MMOs to know that. They do this in games that only have a niche of players to games that have millions of players. At some point all of their accounts being cancelled over and over as well as ZOS probably partnering with PayPal and going through extra measures to ensure stolen acocunts/CCs aren't being used new accounts or at least limiting it to the best that they can, started to become very very very unattractive.

So yes Ashy, this is in part to ZOS' efforts and the playerbase efforts. And why you decided to Google gold spammers I don't know, but Talos is watching you...tread lightly!!! :grinning:

lol slopez, you are way off base.

I have played MMOs that most haven't even heard of just to try them out and gold spammers were everywhere. The most logical reasoning is that as they kept getting their accounts banned, it became a money sink to them with probably little to no people interested in actually purchasing their gold.

ESO is mature and that means people playing are supposed to be at the very least young adults. The gold purchasing is probably MUCH more attractive to a younger audience and they can endlessly make new accounts for free if there was no subscription.

As far as ESO's health, I believe you are completely mistaken. I've played since early Beta and the population has not been lacking ever. I don't know the hours you play or how you are comparing it, but some places are even overflowing with people.

There are a few main hubs in each alliance where most people go to get everything done, make their trade chats, RP, etc...

The later VR zones are the most quiet of course because there are some people who skipped them, those that just go through doing quests but not "hanging out there", and those that are not even qualified to go there yet. As far as each alliance's main hubs, heck no. They are very populated.

I suspect it's a combination of ZOS's efforts (quick responses and character deletion limit), most players' refusal to buy and instead report (I also took the time to report every bot and gold seller I encountered), and the fact that this is no longer the new MMO in town. If it was more profitable and there was less hassle from the admins, they'd still be here. I appreciate the efforts of the ZOS admins for doing their part.

P.S. I play at various times of the day and night not just the same times of the day. Furthermore all the live streamers are gone the ones streaming now are new eso players. I take no pleasure in saying what I've said. I have enjoyed eso and wished the devs had made better choices but unfortunately they didnt and the game is suffering because of it. No population = ghost town = dead mmo : (

For being such a ghost town there sure are a lot of people in my way. I'm seeing more and more people joining in to starter zones and people who wouldn't touch vet content before the nerf filtering into those zones. I'm seeing the player base finally spread out instead of being in just one or two zones but I'm not seeing any real ghost towns. The starter islands didn't have too many players but I also play at low population times.

My comparison is being based on what I've seen from early access launch day up until now. The player population throughout the world not just one zone has diminished a great deal. When I logged in no matter what time of the day or week there use to be tons of players on, now well lets just say I can count how many players are around where before I could not. Sure there are some times of the day and week where pvp 30 day has some good population but not enough where u can log on at any time of the day or week and play with a decent amount of population.

You guys respond as if I'm just trying to troll that isn't my goal here. I'm just sad to see this mmo die because I really liked what I was seeing and had hopped the devs were going to improve it but imo they did not. Instead they ignored the many broken game mechanics/bugs/exploits/game stabilization problems to instead add new content that a very small % of the player base really wants.

The majority of the population u see now are new players who don't yet know what they are getting into with Zos and they are like I was blinded by the beautiful graphics eso has. Give those new players a month or two and see how long they stay. The vets like me who have been here since beta have mostly quit the ones left are to blind to see the truth and will defend this game till their last breath, lol, but not me I'm out finally canceled my sub and pulled my head out of my a$$.

OMG so there aren't as many people as where there the first month? Oh holy crap alert the press!! Every new MMO does that when you get to your next MMO your going ot see the same trend. 60-70% of Launch people leave. From there the MMO grows or loses slowly. Now that the normal influx is gone I and seeing more slow growth than slow decline. But sounds like you already this its going to die anyway and probably play alone with zone chat off so can i have your stuff?

I have one character who does all the crafts. I've found most of the epic recipes and all but two high-end motifs. So I make pretty much everything I need. So I don't buy anything from other players and I don't bother trying to sell anything I can craft since I assume most players are in the same boat as me. I don't even buy/sell traits; I just lol at those folks. So basically, I find I only need gold for repairing gear.

Beta and early post beta was just horrible for gold sellers, so much so that like may others I used an antispam addon. I actually haven't disabled it so I might and see if /zone has improved much in that regard (I have /zone turned off anyway due to other reasons).

What makes people think that gold sellers are not in the game anymore?

Is it the lack of spam in zone and mail? The lack of farming bot trains? Just because you cannot see them does not mean they are not in the game.
