People call them many things. Farmers is what they are best known by.

Playing a new character through the lower levels again has revealed something to me.

Zenimax is the first and only gaming company to knock the Farmers out of their game.

I don't see the botters anymore.

or the spammers.

Gratz Zenimax.

there is still cheating farmers in the vr10+ zones.
nightblade vampires that can run twice as fast as a 60% speed horse going around gathering. they are players but they are using an unintended bug or combo of vampire and nb sneak abilities to increase the speed.

I say cheating because the speed is an unintended bug thus bug abuse = cheating when used intentionally to benefit form it.

Luckily they said it will be fixed in patch 1.4

Is neither a bug or an exploit and it was already adjusted it a little (not as much as many would have wanted LOL)

stop spreading lies, you can not even run AS FAST as a 60% speed horse, much less twice as fast.

And it's not a bug, it has been repeatedly stated it is working as intended. Recently they changed their mind, but that does not an exploit or bug make, it just means they are going to change it.

But you can actually outrun your ability to press print screen before the guy is gone.

Happened to me when I ambushed a guy who was jumping a wall. I fell for a bit and was back on ground. But was running about a billion miles an hour. Reset right away and it was gone. Many farmers were using it to level their characters fast.

I was just discussing this very thing with some of the few pals I have who still play the game.

It's 2 things at the same time:
1.) Amazing that they managed to do it so well, (Completely ignoring the possibility that the botters abandoned a game that was no longer worth their while).
B.) Too danged bad that so many people quit the game over this very issue months ago (some of my friends did) and will likely just never bother to come back.
The problem with society these days is that no one drinks from the skulls of their enemies anymore.

I didn't even understand this post. Were you trying to refute my post? You provided nothing to do that.

I don't understand what you are trying to say.

Also, you can't use this in combat. It goes away once you are no longer officially hidden (the eye opening even a little bit)

Correction.....for the most part Zenimax got rid of the gold farmers and botters. They did not, however, get rid of farmers. There are hundreds, even thousands, of players who relog farm materials and motifs all day, every day. If you sit in one spot and kill the same group of mobs over and over again for loot....you are farming. If you do it for XP, you are grinding. The term "farmer" in an MMO is pretty broad.

But yes, it seems they got rid of the botters and gold spammers. There is nothing wrong with farming materials, motifs, or mobs. You aren't taking anything away from anyone.

They left because it wasn't profitable to buy a new game code/account every time they got banned. Because thousands of players like myself would mass report them on sight every day. Also, it is not hard to acquire gold in this game. And my last point, Once you have your mount and are in your vr12 gear....gold has almost no value unless you die (repair) faster than you produce gold.

Yes, they all left to go infest WildStar like the bloodsucking tics that they are.

They haven't been back even though WildStar has seen a reduction in population after their free month ended just like every new MMO out there.

So obviously whatever ZOS did to get rid of them must still be working, otherwise they'd have come back by now.

Low population game? No, I do not think that is an issue.

In all honesty, I doubt that they left at all.

It's extremely easy to see if there are still botters and gold farmers in this game. Just Google ESO gold or similar search and see how many hits come up. If there are something like 50 sites that are still selling gold for ESO, then you know the gold farmers and botters are not gone yet.

That wouldn't make sense since Archeage is going to be F2P which means they will charge you for the gold themselves.

You probably want to use the word "botters" or "gold-farmers" instead of just calling them "farmers." Plenty of people legitimately farm materials in the game. Botting is something totally different, and I have been pretty pleasantly surprised at how well ZO was able to deal with it. I haven't seen any other MMOs that are this bot-free.

Botters, no, they abandoned the game a while ago. Farmers just gave up actually. See you only need to Farm gold in a game that has a need for people to buy gold. Mainly due to the lack of an AH, there is little reason to buy gold in ESO as there is little reason to spend gold. Im sitting on about 60k of gold with my character, since I make my armor plus the game gives me decent drops of weapons and other loot, I really have nothing to spend it on.
The real reason is that the Farmers were not actually making a profit from gold sales in ESO. So they left.

Yes, has not seen any bots for a long time. No groups of bots or obvious bot names.

As other says it might still be player run bots but they are hard to spot.
Grinding just make you go in circles.

For the life of me, I cannot fathom why people farm materials when loot falls from the sky like mana. I decon EVERYTHING green and above quality and have never had a shortage of materials for making my own stuff.

Deconning green and above loot has a much higher rate of temper material gain than refining raw materials in my experiences, and it also has the added bonus of providing valuable xp while leveling the crafting skill in the first place.

    Gathering materials does nothing.
I am not spending a single penny on the game until changes are made to the game that I want to see.
    1) Remove having to be in a guild to sell items to other players at a kiosk.
    2) Cosmetic modding for armor and clothing.
    3) Difficulty slider.
    4) Fully customizable player housing that isn't tied to anything in the game other than having the correct resources and enough gold to build. Don't tie it to PvP, guild membership, or anything at all. Oh, make it instanced so as not to take up world map space, too. Zeni screwed this one up already.
Any /one/ of these things implemented would get me spending again, maybe even subbing.

The term "farming" does not just describe gathering,,,, Hunting enemies and killing them for their loot (to vendor or deconstruct) is also "farming".

And my point still stands. You get more than enough loot by simple normal adventuring. Farming is totally unnecessary.

I just returned, and one of the first things I noticed was that I couldn't find a single bot (starting out as a fresh alt).

I figured they just moved somewhere more hidden. You can't ever fully get rid of bot farmers. But the newbie area and bosses are definitely the most vital areas to keep clear (first impressions of new players are important), and so far I like what I see.

So yep, hats off to ZOS on that front. Hope their success continues to expand against cheaters in general.

PS: And yes, I too have not seen spammers, but I haven't been in the higher level areas since returning. Again, the newbie areas seem clear of spam (ignoring normal players being 'tards) so I haven't even bothered looking for an updated anti-spam addon.
