What kind of player do you consider yourself to be ?

There seems to be many a discussion about solo vs group content or to be more specific soloable worldplay content vs groupable world play content.

I am not writing this to judge. Everyone has their own preferences. But I would like to get some vague idea of what that split is really like between Group players, Solo players and those that like both.

I have kept this poll anonymous as many of you might not want to get drawn into any discussions at a later point and I don't want that to sway the poll at all.

I would like to stress there is no best in this poll. Please don't start a slanging much whether it is pro-group or pro-solo. Save that for your own thread.

I usually play solo but I'd group with Attilla the Hun if it would help me get that bloody boss down.

    lmao.... fair comment.
I think that would put you in the solo shared or solo+group option personally.

NOTE.. I should clarify that the shared world option means you are happy to take on world bosses and such with other people but not actually make a dedicated group.

I don't see me in the answers above. Im old and been playing since I was... I don't know 16 years ago. im a selfish pig. If Im farming I don't want you to farm there too. If I see you questing and you doing your thing and you look weak. I'll help you. But I don't want to help you for longer than 15 minutes, because you'll think its a group and follow me.

I use to like helping players with things, but I started hating to help because I realized youre young pigs that won't help me the next day while I spam lfg for some easy 5 man stuff and your a sht pile that ignores it after I helped you yesterday.

I use to give my guild all crafting resources that I harvested or collected through killing. Until the people I gave them to never gave me weapons or armor back for free and wanted me to buy them (9 Years of that philosophy in tight and loose nit guilds). Now I sell extras and create a crafter of each trade. I don't tell the guild and I don't sell. I just make for myself.

I refuse to apply (especially on a website) for a guild because I've been killing players and mobs since you were a baby. So why should I prove myself to you.. to join a guild that you benefit from and I wont. In resources that come from a percentage of what I kill deducted through game design or what you tariff? A guild bank that I will be able to deposit from and not withdrawal from.

I prefer the solo. Because game design is always trying to cater to that guild coming from there...that game, with incentives and designs that benefit a guild leader and his crony officers that you aren't even getting a pinch before they are fully stuffed with gear etc... before they let you know that you have to get it yourself.. and that's true..

So I solo and ignore chat..I ignore group invites.. I use to love this stuff, but by design it's making me answer to other players that are selfish with their own goals. That usurp every aspect of group to fill their plates and give nothing back... or demand and give rules or structures that are for a guild and the individual to provide, but the individual always feel slighted when he realizes nothing will ever be provided back to him. No matter how much he's donated or helped. He's sht.

Don't know where I fit in there to vote... but that's mmorpg to me now and where I feel I fit in.

No no no, Option 2 is: I want to do my thing, ALONE, allways alone, and I don't mind having other people doing THEIR thing ALONE allways alone, around me. There is no "getting stronger with each other in option 2". What you're describing is last option.

Option 2 = paying 15 bucks a month to have real players replacing NPCs in a solo game, more bugs than non MMO solo games (that take 10x longer to fix) and updates no bigger than DLCs that come out after you've paid more than the original price of the game in subscription money.

I actually pity you. If you have that much money to waste consider donating to charity. If you want to play alone: Unsubscribe and go back to Morrowing, Oblivion & Skyrim while you wait for TES6, it's what you'll end up doing on the long run anyways and it will stop you from ruining the game for the MMO players.

Seriously. Why would you play ESO if you didn't want to see other people? Single player games have much more detail and freedom to customize. I used like 100 mods in Skyrim to make everything exactly the way I wanted. ESO is so you can quest with real people, but people who like single player games have some better choices than the ESO treadmill.

I really feel this game NEEDS some instanced areas where you can go in with JUST your group. The fact that you can't go ANYWHERE in this game without having to run into some jacktard is really far more annoying than I thought it would be. There are times when I just need to be able to get away from that.

I level solo almost exclusively. However I enjoy the impromptu groups that kinda form if people are doing the same quest as me or in a dungeon. You know the type. We don't really group but we just may follow each other. I enjoy those quite a bit.

Ya you can't do crap alone anymore. Its by design and idiots think its the way it should be. It's marketing.. Why the hell are the newbies telling us that you need a group or should die?

Ahh because business media of said SHT company knows that you are HELP BACK by restrictions, placed on us to only hold us back and need 15 BRAINLESS mic, spamming Ventrilo Skype idiots, that don't even enjoy the game.. Guess. What... Marketing even knows that they enjoy talking to each other and fart joking more than gaming... That's what we get... DEV sht brains more eager to pull in new numbers than creating fun.

What do I mean by that? Heres how it works.. You and me or 2 people, we're aging... getting old.. but population increases,,,, right.... So us 2 idiots that remember when games were fun, are easily more replaced by 4 morons that don't remember anything except that they want to have fun... So throw us away.. to gain the 4 morons and teach them what you want the easy, marketing, cheat cost creative mmo to b.. WOW<
and you don't have to care about level headed experienced players wanting something of quality. Theres your life.. Get use to it. Because its the business model in every venue.. F us old people.. There are more young and they are idiots that are more swayd by peer pressure to like something unfun that sucks...

ESO.. butshell.... It sucks.,.. we all know it.. Someone will argue its fun this or that .... but anone whose been anywhere else.. JESUS CHRIST WTF... FIX THIS.

    "Remember when games where fun"

Oh yes, I remember the endless hours of solo grinding in EQ, DAOC, Lineage 2 or MU Online ahh Korean-like solo player grindfests, I miss them so much, it was so much fun to get to level 15 in 2 days, then grind for 2 months to get to level 30 because quests gave [snip] experience.

Who da hell thought that it would be funnier to play and engage in content with other people? Heretics!

Idea: Go back to those awesome old games, most of them are still around :)

So long as I don't end up running into @Redlag‌ - the Ebeneezer Scrooge of gaming, who considers himself old and yet has only been gaming for 16 years by his own admission - I don't really mind how I play.

Mostly I will start off solo and see who I run into. If we have guild events then I'll take part, although I now realise I am just being used by my guild, thanks again to Ebeneezer for pointing this out.

I realise it's some sort of heretical thing to say, but I find ESO fun played in a multitude of ways, and every person I have met in game has been great. A rarity for an MMO of late.

I prefer Solo, simply because I can't plan on my gaming time. Also, I tend to focus in on things while playing and forget that other's are around.

However, I also like to group, but I am not serious about it. I have grouped with people who are clearly lacking in skills for the game, and I have grouped with people who are very skilled in the game. Guess what, it's all fun. As long as I am alive at the end of the dungeon and did not die too much in the middle of it, I call it a success.

I don't formalize the group processes. The other morning I was out gathering skyshards, someone asked to group with me. They told me they were trying to level to 50. I said, hey, been to the Zombie Road? I took them there, and found two others who wanted to farm. We all grouped up, and soon had a nice kite pattern going and we got this person to the VR Ranks. Then the group broke up (well, I left to go to work they may have stayed there)
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I totally agree with you, these kids nowadays can't play a game without something telling them when to use a skill, what to wear and how to design their character, individuality in games have all but disappeared.
I remember using handset modems for the rotary phones to dial into a BB and do command line battles (got to love the black screen with the green text) with other people just to have someone pick up a phone in the other room to disconnect you. My hard drive was a cassette tape, that I had to ff to a number on a counter and hit play before I could execute the command to launch the game. Ahhhh those were the days of gaming :)

I remember playing pen and paper D&D before pen and paper was invented. We used bits of a sedimentary rock that modern humans call 'chalk' and mammoth hides, to write our character sheets. And back then, gem dice were *real* gem dice, not like the plastic things these spoilt kids use nowadays. We waited millions of years for coal to turn into diamonds that we used for D20s and not so many millions of years for emeralds which were D12 and D10, once we had hacked a side off with a bit of old jackal bone laying by the fire.

We didn't have D&D 'modules' as Gary Gygax hadn't been invented back then, so we sent the players into real dungeons (mazes) filled with actual dire wolves and sabre toothed tigers. Most of them didn't make it out alive, which was OK because that left more women for us not to form relationships with.

Contrary to popular belief however, giant spiders did not exist back then, so we covered real ones with wolf fur to make them look bigger.

Kids nowadays don't understand what they are missing.
