So, I got someone to bite me (they were a vampire.... otherwise that would be weird). They told me I should walk to a wayshrine and that I'd then be approached by someone telling me to go somewhere to pick up the vampire quest line. That was over an hour ago. I've logged out, restarted the game, etc but every time I approach a wayshrine, I get nothing. I've traveled the wayshrines and back again but nothing.

Am I doing something wrong or have I misunderstood something?

You need to go to the place you were bitten and click on the scroll of the alter. You should Google it. There are many articles on how to do it.

Oh... I thought I thought I'd find the scroll at the wayshrine. Sorry, my mistake! Thanks for the quick help!!!

when your bitten and infected by a WILD vampire and get the disease you need to go to said wayshrine and pickup the quest.
otherwise as said before, read scroll at vampire altar where you were bitten.
