1. You would be surprised how many players don't pay attention to their surroundings.
2. My group can run from outside the keep to the inner top by the archers threw 10+ oil pots and not lose a member on the way.
3. Impulse ( also a huge toping of waaaa this skill is op cause i die to it)
4. Meat bags, Fire ballistas, Scatter shots, Nova, Banner, drop an oil at the door facing in. I lol at all the pugs trying to kill the oilier in the cubby by melee and he does it because people will still go in. If its effective, people will still do it.
tldr: Heres some tissues and soap for your tears and to wash off that oil.
The problems with your arguments is that it doesn't refute anything on the overpowered nature of oil pots. It simply does too much damage in too fast a time to too many players.
Your advice is don't stand in it. Which would be your same argument apparently if it did 100,000 damage per second.
You seem to pride yourself in the ability to group place tons of oil and not die. Apparently you want to turn pvp into "oil wars".
However, I'm not sure that is the productive to the entire pvp mechanic.
Threads like these make me come to the conclusion that most people don't know what Purge is.

Oil is the elephant in the room. The way it works is beyond dumb, but it's needed in a major way.
You pour, people who stand in it get burned, it's not a 1 shot. It doesn't come out of nowhere with no warning. There are effective counters. I still fail to see the point how its dumb, broken etc. etc.
