Idea! Bow Skills summon pet line. Hunter Build

As I play my new upcoming Nightblade and using Bow skill it seems like something is missing.... Ahh I know a Pet!

I liked playing Hunter Classes in other games I've played in the past.
ESO Bow skill line would be perfect skill line to add a pet to.

Players could make a Hunter Build.
As Sorcerer's skills have pets why not Bow skill have a summon pet skill as well?

I would love a Panther or a Tiger pet to run with when using bow skills.
Sorcerer get a tank pet so maybe Bow skill line could have a tank pet as well.

I know what a few would say, make a sorcerer and use Bow, its not the same, The sorcerer pets just don't give ya the feel of a Hunter.

    You can already do that.

    Play a Sorcerer.
Brunhilda Icehammer - Nord Dragonknight, 'Smith & Enchantress 'What is 'ranged? I need to hit something!!'
Laehl Direthorn - Bosmer Nightblade, Purveyor of fine Clothes, Bows and Staves
Reeza gra-Zuni - Orc Templar 'War Shaman' and Apothecary
Noemi Snowpaw - Kajiit Dragon Knight - I laugh... or I'd have to kill you.
Kitera Dreamon - Breton of The Dominion: Because those Daggers don't appreciate a great Mage.
Lysara Shadowcroft - Dunmer Bloodmage: This will only hurt a lot.

No, hunters sucked in wow, they would suck here too.

Let me edit: Maybe they wouldn't suck here - but anything that reminds me of the big mistake of building a hunter in wow turns my stomach.

As a sorc who uses a bow, I think this is a better alternative. Although I would like to see it as another class or modified skill line rather than attached to weapon. Just seems more "correct" that way, IMHO.

P.S. I want to start a movement for people to start using the correct terms for a summoned creature: A creature that you summon to follow you is a familiar; a vanity creature that serves no practical purpose is a pet. TMYK :)

When spell crafting comes to the game this should be possible. Though IIRC players will need access to Eyevea (could be mistaken though).

    Sorc Pets are ugly,

The Tigers in ESO are just gorgeous

We shall see what spellcrafting brings, perhaps there will be something along the lines of 'tame beast'.

This one has an eloquent and well thought out response to tha... Ooh sweetroll!

NPC bow users do it already in certain zones. They'll pull out a bear or wolf or spider. i like it ;P

I don't see any reason why this should be tied to a weapon skill though. Why limit it? Why couldn't i be a dual wield hunter? I say add it as a new guild. Hunter's Guild.

    Did you ever PVP?

You know that the hunter is also the most played class in WoW too right?
    http://wow.realmpop.com/us.html

It is also a high dps class if you know what you're doing with it.

If Zenimax wants more subscribers, they will add pets to classes. Especially capturable pets like what Sethria wants.

Although personally, I don't think they should be attached specifically to the bow skill line. If pets are added, it should be its own skill line, available to all classes, and would require sacrificing previously used skill points and therefore some of the skill lines players have chosen. It also has to be tweaked so that players with pets don't necessarily pwn all players without.

well there is Hunters already in this game and they already use pets in Reapers March some of the Mobs summon tigers ,would be a good class seen as there's so many creatures to choose from ie Tame/summon as it were.

i loved Hunters in wow especially the fact you could Tame/own any Creature you came across even special ones could be tamed with a certain spec, and Yes they are very good for PVP especially now they stealth (not as good as a rogue stealth but still effective)

I think he was referring to the Hunter from Darkage of Camelot, which was the archer class for Midgard. They were actually quit powerful even in melee combimned with their pets

No, Maybe now they are? I quit when mists came out. I did play pvp and pve. When I played, hunters were shunned in raids and some would quit the group if a hunter ended up even in a pug. When wow FIRST came out - it was the most played class but after WoLK it was not - I know - I was there.

To add: Hunter in vanilla was a powerful class - over the years it was nerfed to be not a very viable class compared to the others. In pvp a hunter was an easy kill.

Not familiar with WoW and the hunter class, but I'd like to see a beastmaster world skill line. Warrior soul in Rift had a Beastmaster tree, which I thought was cool though I didn't play that game much either. From what they've shown us with spellcrafting theres a ghost wolf familiar, seems like they use Skyrim as a template for spells and I really hope it won't be as utterly useless as it was in Skyrim.

Id prefer if animal summoning skills stayed as class/guild/etc spells than if they were tied to a weapon, and let weapon trait lines purely relate to the weapon. Maybe eventually we'll get a Wyrd trait line and one of the skills let's you summon a friendly senche or dryad. Until then though, leave weapon trait lines to just involve being proficient with that weapon, imo.

I'd go even further and suggest that every class should have a summoned pet skill line.

The NB is already fairly OP. Don't think so well lets examine it. Can go invisible at will for how ever long, has a massive damage boost to sneak attacks, has access to class skills that make the bow a somewhat viable weapon, all of which can make them very dangerous to their opponents be they PvP or PvE. And you want to make them more powerful?

Okay lets say they can get a familiar like the Sorcerer class. What would you have taken away so that they remain balanced? The sneaking ability? The damage boost? How about they become a melee only class? none of these? Then come up with a solution that isn't self serving that we might consider it. Otherwise deal with the hand you have dealt yourself.

I used to destroy hunters on my ranger... I actually felt bad for them for the most part.

Funny, I too quit WoW when Mists came out. I had no problem doing raids with my hunter. Then again, I never did pug groups. I always ran with my 10-man progression group.

And why is the bow anyhow related to the pet?

I mean, I know you seem to like your hunter from Wo- ..ermm, I mean, other games... But there's absolute no reason for someone skilled with a bow to be skilled with animal taming as well.

I suppose that a much more sensible request would be to add a new school/guild/world skill tree that allows you to tame and handle animals for war. And then you can use that alongside any other weapon of your choice...

But, no. No pets in bow skills. That makes no sense at all.

(even if you consider that hunters usually have an animal companion of some sort IRL too, it makes no sense. They don't learn how to handle a wolfhound by learning how to use a bow. They're two separate skill sets a person can learn and should be two separate skill lines in the game.)
