Bottomless chests? Housing?

AH for the good ole bottomless chests of Skyrim. What I wouldn’t give for one of those in ESO. Did someone say “Public Housing” for us? Could it be that these favorites of the profound hoarders that play ESO are on their way to us?
Any notion on when and how housing is going to be implemented?

I played Skyrim to death. The bottomless chests was not really a good thing. Scrolling through pages of items. And in the case of my machine, performance when opening those containers (with a zillion items), was just not good.

I would prefer to see better inventory/container/store filtering long before I want to put >100 items in a single container.

You do have to keep in mind that any changes like this are going to take time and it will detract from the developers from implementing other content. I have seen posters here suggest 1-2 years before we see anything akin to housing. But anything except from ZOS is purely speculative.

Please NO HOUSING, its silly, worthless waste of game space, IMO ;)

Good points all, but as an interim measure I see nothing really that difficult in increasing stack size. The game is enjoyable for me, but inventory management should not be as big a problem as it is.

Housing will be nice but that is still a little away.

You won't see a bottomless chest in a mmo of this type though cause it would be to resouce heavy.

Now if you want to have a house I would recommend Guild housing only. Neat way to have your own space.

LOTRO had both, individual and guild, set up in housing zones, each with their own servers. That process kept housing from cluttering up the regular game environment, remember UO and the vast amount of urban sprawl? What LOTRO did not do was allow a high level of customization to the house. It was also a little tedious to get to. Out of the way and not really near a portal.

If Zenimax ever want to call ESO a true Elder Scrolls game they will have to put housing into it ! Housing has always been an integral part of TES and just reading these forums shows just how much housing is something the community wants ! ! !

There is a house in Coldharbour within the Hollow City that the door just says "home" I believe (assuming not changed in the last month or so) I always wonder if that is a holding marker for eventual player housing or if some dev just "forgot" to label whose home it is.
If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

Oh, man, Housing is my favorite thing when it's done right. It's whole minigame of its own. I LOVE building and decorating houses.

Best Housing Hands Down, was in Ultima Online. Man, to go out into the forest and find a plot of dirt near a tree or lake, then custom build a house and decorate it, and know people are riding by in-game admiring it. And coming home to it after adventuring, putting all your gear and loot and trophies away. And having your friends over just visiting. Seriously good part of the game.

Easy to predict there won't be any "bottomless chest" in this game. A little more storage with player housing, sure.

The current lack of player housing, on the other hand, is a dev decision that makes no sense. House maintenance, upgrade, moving and so on gives any player who has become bored with the fighting grind a new interest, to keep them coming back. Worked that way for me in UO and SWG.

As an example, there is nothing in patch 1.4 that I'm interested in. There is nothing in the latest "Road Ahead" that I'm interested in. Now, announce player housing in (who knows) patch 3.0 and I'm interested.

    Player housing...

Based on my experience with this studio if/when they implement player housing it'll be halfassed. It'll be something like adding new zones filled with existing houses you can buy from NPCs, with no storage space, no place to put anything on display other than perhaps some mini pets, no interaction with furniture, no spouse "sworn to carry your burden", and maybe the option to add some crafting tables to an otherwise functionally irrelevant system.

Everything that makes housing a good thing in TES has no mechanical equivalent currently in ESO. You can't drop items, you can't manipulate items, you can't interact with objects, you can't put objects in containers, you can't even sleep. They would have to add all of those features to ESO first, just to set the stage to add a system where players could do them in a place they call home. Otherwise they'd be putting in a mechanic that serves no purpose. It would be an environment of: "Oh you have a house? I literally cannot bring myself to give a damn."
