Offhand Set Items for 2h weapon

adam.s.jonesub17_ESO
Strictly for the set bonuses wielders of 2h weapons should be able to hold an item in the offhand. It doesn't need stats just to count as a set item. No real reason why sword and board and duel wield can use 9 set pieces and 2h only use 8.

This is actually a good idea IMO and something I had commented on some time ago but there was no change ever implemented. Allow everyone to get set item bonuses equally, regardless of what weapons you use.

Uh no. Then you would have all the staff users saying the same thing. Two handed means you're using two hands, pure and simple.

Well if it makes you feel any better, when i swap 2 hand to 1 hand and back to 2 hand using weapon swap, the game no longer sees my second weapon set bonus without unequiping it and putting it back on.

Atleast it no longer shows in my stat window, so it could just be a display bug i suppose.

A game I used to play eventually implemented something like this. There were no set bonuses in that game, but the off hand item carried a few stats. They came in a variety of flavors. Some for melee, some for mage and so on. They called them "grips". I would love a ninth slot for two-handers.

That is a definitely a bug that should be reported. I haven't noticed it but I'm going to check that when the server comes back up.

Yea back in the FFXI days, staffs and two-handed weapons had an addition to them called grips. This was to give a fair stat distribution and did not add any raw damage to the weapon. It would be great to have them in this game for those who wish to use 2-handed weapons of all types so that no matter what weapon used, you still have the possibility of 9 slots for set bonuses.

Or, and perhaps more simply implemented, just have the two-handed weapons, bows and staves count as '2' for any set bonus.

Well, a sword and board user is carrying 9 items while the two-hander is carrying 8: I'd call that a real reason.

Off-hand should be a grip or something that goes around hilt.

    • Akaviri flesh grip that goes over the handle.
    • Khajiit fur that wraps around the end of the handle.
    • Argonian skin grip for the handle.
    • Khajiit shrunken head which hangs from the handle.

Staffs, bows and 2h weapons should either count as 2 when it comes to counting set pieces, plain and simple.

Neverwinter gives 2h users an item called a swordknot that nobody else has.
Personally I don't see the need.
Different options should have advantages and disadvantages.
Given the popularity of 2h weapons even though they have the disadvantage of 1 set piece less available I think the balance is ok.
